Actually?Cant believe Bellamy is actually going the titans
Yes that’s true. All good ones Tuck but so was Benji I'm not a believer of ranking one's better than the other they all had different qualities and it becomes a matter of individual opinion.
without a shadow of a doubt. even QLD would’ve found a spot for him at 14 or in the centres. NSW had some diabolical halves there during Benji’s prime too. he would’ve been a mainstay of that side.Yes that’s true.
I’d just also add when Benji left Tigers he played halfback for 3 years at Dragons indicating Widdop was a better 6, was primarily off the bench for the Broncos, and the same at the Bunnies.
I might also pose the question…had he been Australian, would he have ever played Origin? For either side?
He debuted against the Knights at CamboWatched the highlights of his debut game against the Sharks on utub yesterday. Did nothing overly special but the footwork was there from the get go.
Sorry - that's who I meant. Nothing like older memory 🙂He debuted against the Knights at Cambo
Widdop played 7 to Barrett. Is Benji worse than Barrett?Yes that’s true.

That gets back to who the coaching staff was at the time and whether they thought his style of play suited the dynamics of the side also how good his form was at the time.Yes that’s true.

All great players from your era. My era stretches back a little further with blokes like Summons, Lisle etc. I couldn't pick one. On their days they were all brilliant. But I agree re Benji. Love how he played at his best but he’s not in the same category as the blokes you mention.Lewis, Kenny, Lyons, Daley, Fittler, Lockyer, Thurston, Munster
He would be a great get. But what position.Jaxson Purdue to test open market, should we have a look?
He's an Immortal. One of the GOATsI understand the doubts about Benji Marshall the coach but people really need to stop with the garbage takes about Benji Marshall the player…. the guy was literally the best player in the game at one point & was untouchable.
Exactly. Basically a whole generation grew up idolising and wanting to play like Benji Marshall, who little doubt drew many players, particularly those brought up with Rugby Union amongst the Maori and Polynesian communities over to league.I'm not prepared to rank Benji against any of the great 5/8ths - circumstances of some players vastly different to others re: eras, clubs, and team mates - but he certainly sits beside them.
