Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

what it screams is members have a right to show there disappointment or as you say negativity. At the end of the day we had 3 wooden spoons on the trot and considering our signings we are still in the bottom four and thats not good enough . We have spent more than a decade playing some shit football.
Thats just self fulfilling bullshit to justify shitty behaviour. Like I said , whatever story you want to tell yourself …

You realise Gardiner can't recruit, right? He has what he has. Yes, he put his senior playmaker in the 7 Jersey. What else is he supposed to do?

I think there's a very slim chance that Luai ever plays 7 again for us.
Yes I get it - and I'm not hard over on him wearing 6 or 7. The point is that it is ludicrous to state that Luai can't play 7. He can given the right framework.

I am simply tying to follow what the club has stated in that Luai is the 7. I don't care what number he wears. Our problem with the halves that we have selected as our base going forward need a pack to provide time and space for them to work. What we had in 2025 was not up to it and, without change we are going to face a similar problem in 2026.

There are solutions that would make it work for the long term - AD to 7, in my book, isn't one of them.

I'm pulling together an analysis of our 2025 performance based on Twal at 13 to identify key deficiencies and will use that to pull together potential solution for us in 2026. Not to say this is how to do it - but as a basis for discussion on how to address the 6,7,13 issues we have.

Bula is a priority signing. He is a gun in attack and is about to hit his peak, the attack improves tenfold whenever he is on the field. Losing him will set the club back and again reinforce to young players that there is no stable future in their career path at the Tigers.
Priority ?? Based on 2025 stats that would be around $100k per try ? $100K per line break ?? $115K per try assist ??? Priority would be to find a fullback with better value than those stats and someone who can kick goals as well and maybe even an alternate kicker for general play.

Looking forward for your analysis. It's the big conundrum for the off-season topic.

Like who? Connor Tracey etc. Judges such as Slater, Lockyer all rate Bula as elite but hey lets get someone who can kick goals like Eion Crossen, Ian Herron.

His stats ( they're not subjective judgements like Slater etc) prove he is not value for money and at a reported $900K for any period of time for the same output would make it less value for money. Let's not mention his defensive frailities either.

The thing is last year , regardless of who he was playing with, not once did Luai stand up and take the dominant role. Whether it was Galvin, Fainu, Doueihi or anyone else he still deferred responsibility to others. That shows in his actions that he isn't a 7. And had no desire to be a 7.

He's a 5/8, and a decent one. As a half he's a long way behind the likes of Hynes.
