I originally heard April some time ago…. That can obviously now be varied if both agreed .

Supposedly Richo is negotiating with him for a new deal..neither the clubs or the players option …seems odd that that’s on the table…but he can’t deal with other clubs? Come April…most of the clubs will have their fullbacks bedded down for 2027,,

The extension clauses are not wanting to be activated by either party. I wouldn't take a line from Richo as a formal refusal of the extension.
Of course they are mutually negotiating an extension. It is in the best interest of both parties to do so. It is also in Bulas best interest to see what alternative options are.
Until such time as the contract is signed it is simply no more than negotiations and as Richo says in your quote "you never count your chickens".
If negotiations break down, Tigers may yet activate the extension. They may not as well. Every outcome is still possible, even if Richo believes one is more likely than the others.

Richo also states that if the player does not want to be here - he will not utilise a club option.

So it comes down to the player wanting to stay........... and like Richo I am confident that is the case

He can deal with other clubs all he wants now that it is past Nov1. He can't sign with them for 27 yet because the potential is still there for Tigers to activate their option.

He is not a free-agent as at 1st November due to the mutual options - and has not sought permission to negotiate with other clubs!

Looking at the market, if I was a betting man, I'd suggest he stays. But I don't know Bula, I don't know his relationship with the club and coach nor his willingness to look at options outside of Sydney. So I've no feel for what he will do.
What I expect to happen, if he wants to maximise his earning, is to wait til the new season starts. Play a few (he would hope) stand out games and increase his worth with the help of his manager putting his name in the media every week.

I do - and am confident he will extend before the start of the 2026 season!

Bears are going to really struggle imo. Don’t think many established players will be too keen to uproot themselves and move to the other side of the country.

Yes and what's it going to cost to coax them across family players will be balking so that leaves single players, that dramatically reduces the signings pool.
