Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

1 - Moses is a Parra Junior
2 - Cleary pulled his Contract

He never had a chance to prove any loyalty.
If I remember right, he left Parra when he wasn't wanted there, odd some guys head back after been shown the door you would think they would dislike that club with a vengeance.

Don't like to dredge up the past but if we could have retained him and Teddy makes you wonder just how much better we could have been with them in the spine, would they have been an attraction for other players to come over to us.

Still the club would have been under control of the witch doctors holding us back.

Great post, can't disagree with anything you've said.

It poses the question; what is the Wests Tigers strategy to win the hearts of kids in South West Sydney?

We are already 25 years behind.

My nephew lives 10km from Campbelltown and he was very close to following his other uncle's footsteps and following the Broncos. The Tigers have not been to his school once and he's about to start year 5; I find that insane.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the Magpies vs. Balmain divide is still the core issue here. I don’t see HBG putting real money into the Wests Tigers brand in Campbelltown when it feels like it’s competing with their own Magpies identity. If I were Peter V’landys, I’d issue a 'use it or lose it' ultimatum: either the Tigers commit to the Macarthur region properly, or we open the gates to a club like the Bulldogs who actually want to be there. It’s a drastic move, but it might be the only way to force their hand

what is the Wests Tigers strategy to win the hearts of kids in South West Sydney?

Very complex question.

Look at Macarthur in the A League, has this team captured Campbelltown locals hearts?

I think it is a social and economic question as well.

Unless any club win in the region of a winning ratio of a top 4 team i don't think they will capture any hearts no matter what any club does.

Its a fickle area to commercialise

Campbelltown doesn't fill up like the 8 wonder and I prefer watching at the 8th

But long term it has to be Campbelltown 8 games the rest at the 8th hopefully

And if it doesn't work 50/50 there's an inch in the back of my mind saying the 8th will be better for wins which is a must for professional sports and more profitable at the 8th

Juniors say Campbelltown but if the club is well run that's less important

When West was originally at Campbelltown they did do a lot of work in the area 5 years before the meagre they slowed down and has been liked that since. This year there has been a increase but they could do so much more. Same in the A-league side as well.

Does this not come back to the owners and the amount of money they can pour into the club., deeper pockets needed.

My point is Campbelltown people wont give a stuff about tigers until top 4 team and how realistic is that?

I think it comes down to winning

To be fair....we have linked with Eagle Vale st andrews high school which has become a dedicated sports high school...also joined forces with UWS.
Opened the junior academy out there and eventually will play most home games there

big problem with the Campbelltown Macarthur area is as people have moved out there to purchase homes etc they are heading out there already following another team e.g. parents followed dragons or parramatta or souths etc or as a kid they might have followed another team.
The default for the kids is not necessarily Tigers.

As much as I don’t want to talk about Moses, your not serious re; he never had a chance to prove any loyalty
They had 12 months to extend their contracts prior to Cleary arriving. Instead, Woods went on tv every week and ummed and ahhed every time the question was put to him about staying. He had some of the worst advisers any player has ever had. Was made to believe he was bigger than the club. Took him about 5 mins after he signed with the Dogs to realise he’d screwed up royally.

Exactly. Moses showed no loyalty. He had a handshake agreement with the Roosters & then backed out. Its the reason why Politis doesn’t deal with Isaac Moses

I've always thought that too. Seems odd to go back to a club that rejected you. Personally I'd spend my career trying to stick it to them.

Nothing would have eventuated, we had zero leaders to show them how to win - and we’re paying them too much to have quality around them.

Nope
We pulled the contract - it’s easy to assume the final outcome, but the truth is - history will never know.

We were also a club that had been through 2 coaches and looking to get rid of a 3rd inside 5 years - had also been through 3 ceos and just paid out club captain and longest serving player 1 million dollars to play somewhere else for a year - how exactly are they supposed to respond, and how would you have them think?

I don’t disagree with you necessarily,
or think the outcome may have been to different
- but laying it all on a bunch of young blokes because they got out of the shit show, I just won’t wear that.

After all,
almost 10 years later - we’re all still here, with the clowns at the top still playing the e same stupid games!

Of the big 4 - I would say none of them regret leaving and Brooks probably regrets not leaving sooner.

This is difficult to believe,
they visit 100 odd schools every year / half would be out there (at least)

Have you ever googled it, might have just missed them?
I stand corrected, they visited in 2021 when he was in kindergarten but haven't been back since - or maybe the school limited to certain ages?
