Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Unsure what you mean by "excellence as a player forgives all sins" unless you are refering to Taylan May.
Taylan is a gun, yes that does not 'forgive' DV.

That said, stopping crime has a few components:
Punishment aka prison time or cutting off a theifs hand as a dissensentive to commit the crime again.
Behaviour modification.
Lifestyle modification/rehibilitation.

I am absolutely over the NRL and their double/triple standards on players. Ezra Mam can drive drunk, The dogs would have happily had JAC keep playing his last few games in 2024 while dumping him for bad behaviour.

It honestly seems to me that a club that has a badly behaving player, gets to discipline that player for 1 year, tear up their contract, then that player will be off playing for the opposition on a cheapie contract. The Club suffers, unless you are Brisbane/Melbourne/Manly/Penrith.

We have Taylan May. The NRL seemed to have no issues with Taylan playing at Penrith.
I have issues, is Taylan in a DV program? Is his behaviour to women changing? Is running him raggard against a bunch of guys getting his aggression out in a healthy way OR is making his DV behaviour worse (I do not know, but I think it may be positive).

Not saying we are off, scott free as a club.
We need to ensure Taylan sticks to a DV rehibilitation program and changes. I am happy with us building a reformed DV player, while his onfield sucked Russell Packer is a good example** of someone who did the time and came back. I am happy for us to take players who have made mistakes.

If Taylan does that DV stuff again, we need to fire him and risk loosing both May's. Now Luai + all 3 Fainu's + both May's threatened to walk if Benji was fired... Were sitting on a damn powder keg here.

Ill recognise the Cowboys for punting Barba damn quick when he misbehaved (I am sure people are aware of past sins of the Cows as well as many clubs).
**this may age poorly
I’m not talking about any of this.
I’m saying that anyone from the 2005 side is considered god status and can return poor results to little backlash.
To a lot of fans, 2005 players on staff will bring success. To the rest of us they equal boys club mediocrity.

Are you talking about Benji? He’s had plenty of backlash in the media.

Positivity brings success, constant whinging will not achieve anything.
Are you kidding no other supporters have endured what our supporters have had to put up with, and the "whinging" as you put it would be off the charts for all other supporter groups in our position.
Their is a significant difference between whinging and identifying failure and demanding better.

Their is one constant in our failure - plenty of fall guys that seem to be able to operate successfully at other clubs - yet you like to focus on the imperfect record of individuals while constantly deflecting from the controlling body that oversee the failure and are responsible for the disharmony and divisiveness that damages the brand that they represent.

RHS the majority of players don’t even know or care who the board members are.
Yes the CEO plays an important role, but I’m confident in saying players find our new CEO to be a better bloke, far more approachable and easier to deal with than our previous CEO.
Do you think the Roosters players know uncle Nick or bouris? Saw tedesco posing with bouris just a few days ago.

Thats our issue. Other clubs have that as a strength and the players not only respect that and play accordingly, but know that theyll have the connections post retirement. We dont have that.

How do you know this? Did you take a poll or do you know that the board members avoid contact with the players?
Are you suggesting that a players introduction to the club does not include a description of who’s who in the zoo?
Pretty much the whole country knows who they are, but the players probably think that guy they bumped into at the coffee shop or gym may have been Rod Stewart? 😂

This is typical 'blame the victim talk'. Many of the fans realise where the clubs problems stem from, again and again and again. Instability and incompetence at the top.
Wests Tigers fans are whingers because their club management regularly provides real reasons to whinge. Free of charge.
Dont blame the victims, blame the perpetrators.

I'd agree to a certain extent that players don't really look into the board. They do however look into the clubs likelihood of success whilst they are a part of the club. And unfortunately the board amongst others play a large role in if success is likely.
So they may not directly look at the board but the outcomes of the board is something they directly consider.

Not enough.
He’s just been extended to the end of the decade.
Unbelievable considering his returns of 2 spoons and then a 13th with the strongest squad we’ve had in many many years.
totally and utterly agree!!! Its embarrassing that he got signed for another 3 years with not one other club interested in him in the slightest. Yes i know it was done for stability but surely something else could have been done and not to sign him for another 3 years, this is so Tigers.

It's not even mediocrity though is it .
We were mediocre back when JT was hired and it's been downhill since.
I think ‘abject failure’ is a little too harsh because they have had some successes. Such as,
hiring a CEO with a track record of success,
avoiding a consecutive 4th spoon,
installing an independent WT board which produced a profit.
Ok sure, all short lived but it gave the positive poly annas a warm fuzzy.

But then what happened the HBG directors that made the good decisions were shafted and the new ones gutted the joint like a fish.

It's just a constant rinse and repeat, back to square one, who does that when things are looking on the up.
