Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Rumours from where? I think we are just being selective and strategic in who we bring to the club.. Richo and Benji spent 2 years turning the roster around and people are starting to say that the results are starting to show

It was posted earlier in the thread …not by me …code NRL which I think is News Ltd

yes they assembled a nice squad but as we see things can change quickly through injury …team building is a job that’s never finished

Yet Parramatta are still in on every player that shakes loose ? How is that when they overpay everyone ?

Meantime we are silent in the market
"Silent" other than having signed Luia, Turuva, May x2 and KPP in the past year and a bit, that is.

I suspect any cap room we have is being put aside to extend and increase the contracts of young players we want to keep, as it absolutely should be. If we decided on a whim to bring in some nuffie like Xerri and as a result didn't have enough cap room to keep Makasini I for one would be absolutely livid.

Of all the clubs I might look at as an example of how to do successful cap management, Parramatta might be in the bottom four.

Yeah .. a year and a bit ..: ago…..two years since Luai and Turuva were signed …it’s like painting the Harbour Bridge … team building is a job that’s never finished

it’s up to Benji to decide … if he is genuinely interested in Xerri as reported, then perhaps he shares my concerns with the injuries and Toa generally

Who told you that ? Your mate at the pub again ?
Read the article …it’s quite clear the WT are contributing to his salary this year and probably next
The guy who told me Bud was going to Souths months before it happened and it was not reported anywhere

How are you today Tom I hope all is well my day is very average today

Hopefully nothing too serious my man ..:

I think your mate might be mistaken on this occasion .. The Tigers ie Benji and Richo had been desperate to get rid of Bud …I heard after his first year they were prepared to pay $300k x 3 years to ship him over to the Super League .., so they probably thought they had a win with the $250 a year

Sorry to hear that O.
One tip mate...stay off the grog today its no help and a depressant will only maken you feel.worse.

I highly doubt we could get a medical cert for Starr...but it seems like his issues arent ever going away
Would be a.good.outcome to get a happy compliant non whinging positive Xerri.in (dunno if that exists)
....a helluva lotta ducks to line up

Silence at this point is a Good thing. They’re concentrating on retention and keeping the ones we have . There’s not too many holes in the squad , that doesn’t have someone young looking to push up and challenge .
Once the Bula thing is sorted , and we have already tabled offers to the fainus and masi, then the May boys . The twal and AD contracts I’m certain are less under the cap , but probably TPAs / veteran bonus.
Also there’s real rumours the cap will rise to 15m. I’m confident .

This seasons squad might be the best team they have under this regime ..if Bula was to move on and they lose others the following year ( Maka for example) … I want to live in the present for a bit… I hope they do everything they can to maximise this opportunity in 2026 to get as far as they can

You should read your avatar, it always gives me a chuckle.

44-16 and fifth.

Yesterday I went to site with my WT Members hat on and one of the young plasterers is from nth Queensland.

I hope that helps improve your day.

I understand the disillusionment with Toa given how rarely he can take the field, but wishing for the medical retirement of a 25yo bloke is a bit off.
Benji talked him up and fair bit coming into this season and with the style of footy we seem to want to play he could be a real weapon if he can get right.
That being said, I wouldn't be against getting Xerri over if it happens quickly even if it's just a "loan" arrangement to see how we are travelling by end of year.

Yes, and we are continuing to build the roster. We signed several players for this season, headlined by KPP who was one of the biggest moves in the comp. The idea that the Tigers are "silent" in free agency is just plain wrong: over the past couple of seasons, we have been about the most active and certainly made the most impactful moves.

Seriously, have a look at the player movements: https://www.nrl.com/news/2026/01/01/2026-nrl-signings-tracker-the-latest-from-all-17-clubs/ Major free agent signings are so much rarer than people tend to think. Who is a bigger signing than KPP in terms of their potential impact on a current roster? You could make a case for Leo Thompson, Jamal Fogarty, Dylan Brown, David Fifita, Reece Robson - but you wouldn't get 100% agreement on any of them.

You say Parra and the Dragons are linked to everyone, yet their ins are Jonah Pezet (for one year), sex pest Jack de Belin, Brian Kelly, Daniel Atkinson, Josh Kerr, David Fale, Setu Tu and Joseph O'Neill. I'd rather have KPP than any of those. Hell, I'd rather have Bunty Afoa than any of those, with the possible exception of Pezet (for one year).

Well..I was wrong because it looks like they are in right now on Xerri… if they see a need for him…then let’s hope they get him hey ?

KPP signed for $550k a year … a solid signing no doubt, but more than a few had thought him a bust at Newcastle at the time of signing him ( back 9 months ago BTW) , probably why they got him at that price …I’d stop short of calling it one of the biggest moves in the comp … for now anyway although he had a promising debut

The others you compare him with are all above that price level …

Don’t forget Parra acquired our prize junior TDS after we signed KPP…Tigers might be in front for now on that one though ..

Its not off if the injury is chronic as its been reported to be

What would be off is wishing injury on a fully fit player
