Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Thinking a a bit more about the Luai departure and its ramifications in terms of other contract extensions, I reckon it's all been part of a carefully constructed jigsaw puzzle. Conversations between Jarome and Benji started some time a go, with cards laid on the table and agreements reached. 'I'll support and protect you if you go to the Chiefs but, in return, I want you to promise me that you won't take other Tigers players with you'. Once this was nutted out, the timing of the announcement was decided and, once the projected financial situation was clear, a sequence of contract extensions was triggered, starting with the Mays and then Bula. I think it was all part of a master plan and reflects excellent salary cap management by Benji and the club. Well done Tigers!
Agree something this has been planned. Don't know about the don't poach other guys bit, but for the extensions to flow like this means things were already in place.

Funny, when I ask you about facts, you casually ignore it.
You have an unhealthy predisposition about the people that saved our club from dying when Balmain imploded.
Yes, they have made mistakes, but the fact is they were the only ones that saved us when Balmain irresponsibly defaulted on it's half of obligations.
You don't give them any credit, rather you abuse them when there's any ripple in our club.
Lose a game ? HBG.
Someone doesn't sign yet ? HBG
We start winning games ? you still whinge about HBG.
Everyone in the game has said what a win win the Luai case has been. Except on here. We all know who's fault it is. 3 letters.
As for December, I don't know what happened. Either do you. But I don't go around pretending to, and then drawing nut-job conclusions based on my clueless assumptions.
Keep it up mate.
I'm not the one losing sleep, or bashing my head against a brick wall.
My "side of the discussion" is fine. But you keep going, you never know, you might change something.
You’ve twisted my position into something it isn't. Let’s clear the slate and bring this back to the core of the issue.

1. The Respect Gap
If HBG wants respect from the fans, they need to show it in return. Let’s look at the timeline:
  • The Sacking: When they sacked the board, they proactively posted a video to "reassure fans." Whether you agreed with the decision or not, they at least fronted up.
  • The Silence: When that decision was reversed, directors were reinstated, and the CEO quit, the "reassurance" vanished.
If proactive communication was necessary for the sacking, why was it absent during the backflip? Instead of official updates, we saw Wests directors on Facebook ripping into upset fans. We are now five months on without a peep. That isn't "serving the fans"—that’s serving self-interest. Can you see why unaffiliated fans are fed up?

2. The "Saving the Tigers" Myth
HBG didn’t "save" the Wests Tigers out of charity; they made a calculated business decision to protect their own asset.
  • The Debenture System: This wasn't a safety net for the Wests Tigers club; it was a barrier. It effectively blocked outside "White Knights" (like Laundy or Triguboff) because no serious investor would pour millions into a club where they have zero say and must answer to a closed-loop debenture board.
  • The Reality: HBG benefited immensely by taking the Balmain share.
The Bottom Line: The debenture holders didn't want a White Knight because a White Knight would have demanded change. They spent their money to ensure that while ownership percentages shifted, the status quo remained under their total control.

** Richo was the White Knight without the ownership and they did what they could to get rid of him.
*** I also understand why they would protect their own asset, but dont then spin that as "Saving the Wests Tigers".... it saved the Wests Magpies.

Conclusion:
At the end of the day, we need to call this what it is. The debenture system isn't a neutral governance tool; it is a fortress designed to protect the interests of the Wests Magpies above all else. HBG didn't step in to save a joint venture; they stepped in to ensure that their 1908 foundation club never lost its seat at the table. While they use the 'Holman Barnes' name to project unity, their actions prove their sole priority is the preservation of the Magpies' footprint, even if that means keeping the Wests Tigers in a perpetual state of 'mission lock' that blocks any outside evolution.

Feel free to correct any errors I have made. I look forward to your response.

No response from me, I’m sick of hearing about it.
Our club is riding high with great character building wins from our NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg teams this weekend as well as some important parts of our NRL squad committing to us long term, surely the positives are far outweighing any negatives at the moment.

All good. But if that's your position, please stop chiming into conversations and making statements, then running away from the questions about your statements.

Agree really. I like Bula but he's only worth 750 max. Just hope we don't lose Brookes as a result.

The market is inflated with the new teams, if Drinkwater is worth a mil Bula will be asking similar. I hope we got him for under $850-900k but i doubt it.

Bula is a very good player, not elite imo but perhaps for the way we play he is a very important cog in the wheel.

Can you guys just get each others number and have it out already? This is the signing and suggestions thread, it is so tiresome logging in and reading you two having a lovers tiff for 5 pages. We get it you disagree and you are both super clever. Please give the the forum a rest from your egos.
