Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Wouldn’t have made any difference to the end outcome … a massive thumping
Well he can’t do the tacking for centres and wingers who have no idea what they are doing, so yes it was not going change the end result.
Amazingly we still have some fans who do not think there is much wrong with our centres and wingers ?

Mick Ennis and Luke Keary mentioned yesterday there was a massive difference in the warm up's from each team. One had purpose the other was not switched on.

This happened at the Storm game also.
All this talk at the start of the year about no corners cut, we are a connected, tough and resilient team - pre game players are walking around by themselves, do things half paced and maybe 1-2 reps. The coaching staff needs a kick up the backside.

For all the doomsters, lets remember Tigers are still 4 points ahead of Broncos, Storm, Raiders and Dogs.
Haha wow Let's hang our hat on that ...I knew got some injuries by the way but there is still some "quality players" out there just no driving the standards, .hahaha 4 points aye that would be thanks to the 2 bye rounds we have had let check back in on the Storm, Broncos and Raiders at least at the end of the season.

I sure as shit don't want the club signing Leilua but he is a significantly better player than Chan.
So who do we sign to ensure we are a better team with better depth for 2027 ?
There is only few players of NRL quality available and only a few that are stuck in reserve grade but have NRL qualities.
Surely the answer is not just stick with an almost identical squad and hope for better results ?

Must be why the Dragons are getting rid of him … he is 30 next year and will cost double the money too..
Or Dragons are getting rid of him because their pack has 3 very good young back rowers who have each announced themselves as first grade ready.
Why do you assume Leilua will cost double the money? He might do, given he is far more talented. But as you say, he is also approaching 30 and a reputation for being a lazy trainer (true or not the rep is there). Doesn't seem like this will add up to him being offered big money for his next contract.

Can’t believe he’s not 30 yet. Waste of talent.

I'd need to have a sus of who is available to give an answer. I don't see Chan as improving the side. Leilua there is an argument if you can get him cheap on a 1 year deal only but there's surely better options.
Additionally, the squad is never identical year on year. For the backrow spot as an example. Everything I've heard of Roberts and the little I've seen he is the back up 2rf. A year extra physical development and hopefully some game time should seen him as a better player next year.

I think some desperate team like the Bears will pay him about $550k probably based on reputation … he just came off a $750k deal …

I actually think Chan is a better option right now …probably on about $300k

Chan will be 25 next Feb and has played about 70 odd first grade games here and Super League …including 40 with Bellamy … he still hasn’t peaked as yet …

The Dragons have a good influx of very good young back rowers and forwards in general, so they have no need for him.
I’m all for signing better options but who and where are they ?
I don’t mind your idea of Joe Chan who can cover edge back row or centre, but as I’ve already explained signing him would be easier said than done as we know his manager hates our club.
Chan is more of an edge back the/centre option, I don’t think he fits the profile as a middle forward option.
Luciano Leilua is an option as a back up edge back rower and could also be an impact middle forward option. Shawn Blore is another who fits that criteria and is a better more reliable defender, but doesn’t have the same impact and tackle break ability when running the ball.

Ok ..wasn’t aware of his manager … that won’t be happening
