Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Roosters are willing to pay 250k of Lenius 800k contract

Leniu for 550k would be a great pickup for whoever gets him. Don’t think we would have the money
Tempting...but for that $$$ hed have to start, probably at the chagrin of Pole
And dont forget, hed want a 3 yr contract ongoing at $800
he not worth that to us

CTM reminded me of that chubby 18yo front rower we sacked who took WT to court… all hype yet can’t produce… hope I’m wrong
That Jordan Miller kid wasn't chubby, he was morbidly obese, yet some on here continued to promote him as the next Arthur Beetson.
CTM was the standout worst forward on the paddock in Origin. Ran soft and looked totally disinterested then let a soft try in with his laziness.
He's got another 2 years of non-evidence based hype on here to go before he takes up a career as a house painter.

Are you saying we already have too many good players ?
He would be great, but I’ve heard him previously comment that he is loyal to the Roosters, so that could be a problem if we are trying to sign him.

I assume he is saying our excess money to spend on new players is limited ..,

Would not surprise me if Shannon Gallant is monitoring the situation of Suli Pole at the Storm., brother of Fonua.

This week he's named on the bench for Jersey Flegg at the Storm.

tbh I haven't seen much of him but he would certainly bring height & size to our front row stocks.
He s in flegg as a reserve , I haven’t watched him but talk of him helping our first grade seems odd , he can’t get going in storm reserve grade , young I get it but if we are going for some size , power , aggression , Lenui is your guy , or again size , power , experience Blore is a go , we can’t just add young guys we need some first grade added as we at full strength are about 75/80% done ✅ just need to tweak a bit more and Jake Alverillo starts that off

I remember watching Samuela play Origin under 19's and thinking what a great future he had in front of him.
I had the opposite feeling watching Taupau- Moors

Broederlow and Saukuru have looked good in KOE, they're the two to focus on.
Thanks for your comment very interesting Broederlow and Saukuru I will have to watch more of them

Averillo is named on an extended bench for Redcliffe Dolphins Qld Cup team for their upcoming game.

And we have signed him for 4 years.

If we could somehow get Blore and Leniu, would be massive for us

1. Bula
2. Maka
3. May
4. Averillo
5. Turuva

6. Luai
7. AD

8. May
9. Api
10. Leniu
11. Fainu
12. KPP
13. Twal

14. Blore
15. Pole
16. S. Fainu
17. L. Fainu

Problem will probably be Luai's salary for 27 though

Very interesting

We can blame injuries all we want but we are the 7th most impacted team by injuries - having 78 weeks missed total due to injury

Wahs have 84 weeks missed (players like RTS, JFH, Halasima, Boyd), Rabbits 89 (Mitchell, Wighton, Campbell Graham, Elliot).

Whilst only a small sample from a larger pool with teams like Cows, Eels, Storm, Broncos also struggling to navigate injuries - I think it is a reflection of what we have become accustomed to.

We don't have a next man up mentality and we are far behind teams that can consistently remain at the top and overcome adversity.

We rely on players who have consistently been tried in the past to no prevail.

I am not turning this into a Benji issue, but someone needs to take accountability for our lack of depth in key areas or the difficulty back-up players have in integrating into our first grade squad.

If our NSW Cup team is winning games 46-12 and 68-8 at a time where our first grade team is injury plagued causing players to be promoted, why is our first grade team struggling to find talent to replace injured players with?

Is the issue cohesion and adaption to first grade? Is it an issue of not enough integration between the two teams, and training sessions together?s

Stats are crap it all depends on which players are out and the length of time, also type of injury they return from. Tigers have had Bula, Doubie, May with shoulder injuries that require a reconstruction in the offseason, so they return not fully fit! Luai was out for 4 weeks, Api suspended 3 weeks. Then both our starting second rowers out for more than half the season.
Then compare that to the rest of the teams mentioned, most of their players are fringe first graders with a sprinkling of experienced players.
Look there is no excuse for the thrashings we have received in their absence. No heart is no heart. But don’t compare the loss of established first graders and spine players.

Suli Pole on a pre-season T&T contract to get into our season could be worth it. Might flourish being with his brother and able to train with the NRL squad.

I posted the ladder against those stats and 5 of the top 6 teams have the least injuries in the comp. The only exception is the Warriors.

Averillo signs
I didn't realise that Jake Averillo is a Steph Curry fan.

I've been following the Golden State Warriors since the Run TMC era, but Steph Curry changed the franchise when he arrived in 2009. The gesture Jake makes in that photo is Steph's classic ' good night game over ' sign.

Fringe NRL centre Kyle McCarthy has ended speculation over his immediate playing future by taking up an option in his contract and will be a Knight again next season.

McCarthy had until the end this month to let the Knights know if he was staying or opting to link with a rival club.

A natural right centre, he is no doubt backing himself to be in the frame to replace departing veteran Dane Gagai in the top grade in 2027.

If they pay 250k and we used the 350k of Royce's contract (if he is leaving) then we are only 200k short. Can benji sell 200k of value via the brotherhood lol
Its about the ongoing $800k per year cost that is the challenge
Weve got several players re-signed who are overpaid already..dont need another
