Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Do you jog call speed to run the length a part of x-factor ?
When was the last time we run the length ? Luke Laulilli at Leichhardt Oval in round 2, but we will get rid of him, too fast to be in our team.
not really, for me the xfactor is the player that can provide the Line Break or make the line break, getting clear ball and a staggered defensive line where every tackle was almost a hail mary attempt and every player has just busted a gut for 75mins in the wet is not xfactor for me. I'm not saying Young does not have xfactor, im just saying that the play that won them the game is not an xfactor play for me.

We’ll have to wait and see how they choose to use him ..,

He will be behind Turuva and Makasini for mine .., I would probably have Tavana ahead of him for Winger 3
No problem with that. But with May & Herbert out, having a player like Tupou means you wouldn't HAVE to pick Makasini if he was struggling with injury.

And who knows? If he comes in & is faster than the guys in front of him, or consistently breaks the line etc in KOE, maybe he earns his way into a 1st grade spot.

Bringing players like Tupou, Schuster & Dunster to the club is less about ability & more about expectation.

If we look at this as 'depth' & not as 'the answer', all three in their own way have merit.

There's a player in there somewhere that goes for the two of them, but can Benji be the one to unlock them, some good coaches have tried.
Not many teams can cycle in a 6'2" 105kg winger as the #5 option. If a couple of guys go down, or if there is a height match-up issue etc...I'm just saying, not the worst option.

Preferable than turning to Will Craig.

Who is in our 30.

If Tupou can be an upgrade on some of our lower end Top #30 options, and not break the bank, he's a great pick up.

For the record- the guy that probably held him out of 1st grade up in Redcliffe had a spotty start to his career before blossoming again at age 25/26.

a better option than tavanna, who is a deadset liability on the wing defensively as the cronulla game showed.
in attack tavanna is ok

Another one developed badly.
Will Craig was always a long way ahead of Tino Tavana in terms of talent and potential and was always a fast and powerful, tackle busting centre.
Why sone genius wanted th turn him into a winger I’ll never know ?
So imarcstory with Luke Laulilli, he was predominantly a fast, tackle busting fullback, had the attributes to convert to a centre, but we instead persist with him as a winger.
Luke had one game playing centre for us in NRL last season, he played well in attack, but was a bit shaky in defence which was understandable considering I cannot recall him even getting one game in the centres in Jersey Flegg of NSW Cuk prior to it, so you would assume he could have had plenty of scope for improvement with more time playing the position, but he never got another opportunity.
Roll around to this season and how many chances are we giving sons players despite their glaring weaknesses?
And no I am not joining the chorus in bagging Makasini as I’m still hopeful he will become a top class player, but the inconsistencies within Benji’s selections are very worrying.

Are you a fan of Junior mate ? He is the replacement apparently
I don’t hate him, but I think Luke Laulilli is a much better player as a centre or winger.
I am relatively ok with Junior Tupou on a low tier top 30 deal of no more than 200k to see if he can rediscover the talent he once showed when he was last with us.
Common sense would say the deal would only be for the remainder of this season and maybe include 2027 to see how he performs.

Sloan is exactly the player we don’t need. If you complain about Bula or Toa and want Sloan I don’t know what to say. He’s got ability but zero desire.

Happy to watch our boys even while frustrating at times you can’t deny the effort. Haven’t seen that intent from us…ever! Sloan goes directly against this culture.

As for speed, Bula and Averillo are the real deal and May is no slouch. Doueihi also has some legs now that’s his knees are in good shape. Dunster also is pretty quick and Tupou also if we bring him back.
At fullback in our team and the way it plays Bula rarely ever gets the ball to use his speed. Or atleast thats the way it seems to me.

They passed the ball in their own in goal, broke the tackle of Makasini and then went the length of the field tj s its.
I would be highly impressed if we could do that.

I agree, this season is on Benji. I think he's lost us a few games just from poor bench usage and team selections.
I think we desperately need a veteran coach (Not apart of the 05 premiership) to come in and guide Benji.
Imagine if Bennet came for 1-2 years and showed him how to do things..
Benji has potential but he just doesn't know what he's doing IMO.
Benji has shown he has a great ability to motivate the boys and get everyone rowing on the same boat but his tactics are off, he would be good I think if our assistants weren’t his old team mates but really talented and technical coaches to teach the boys stuff and Let Benji do the motivating on and in the lead up to game day

What is wrong with people that cannot abide CAPITOL letters,
that compells them to comment to a person about them highlighting a point by doing so.
If you tell me what this is supposed to mean, I might respond.

don't get all defensive and entitled. Just explain what you were trying to say clearly. You can do it. I know you can.
