Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I’d suggest someone a bit more modern. Beau Scott isn’t a bad shout. What he’s doing now and if he’s in a position to be an assistant coach. No idea. Idk what happened to David Fairleigh. He was one of the highest regarded assistants in the game for years, but seems to have disappeared.
I agree, and would just like to see someone come in assist/mentor so some venom and sting is in wests tigers defence.

Without putting wish list names to replace existing WT squad members, are the following generalisations on track?

* Have a performing and effective spine (1, 6, 7, 13, 9)
* Front row and second row have to dominate, be big, fast, mobile and hit hard. (12, 11, 10, 8)
* Big, fast and mobile backs. (2, 3, 4, 5)
* A goal kicker capable of high 70's if not early 80's percentage success.
* Atleast 2 players capable of good tactical kicking.
* An interchange bench + 4 others familiar with main squad routines, capable of replacing squad members for longer stints and NRL experienced and ready in limited levels.
* Coaching staff that can develop and put in place fitness, attacking and defensive plans and routines to counter each team we come up against. One size does not fit all circumstances.

My basic thoughts after writing that, WT are so far off the pace.
Forgot hard running back rowers, as if some choose to run slower.

WT strategy

Short and stocky wingers or “confidence players”
3-4 5/8s (2 on field plus 2 on bench)
Low impact workhorse front rowers
Defensive line speed for 50 minutes, 30 minutes take a break
Side to side red zone shifts until AD gets the ball
Focus on fitness and metrics in the preseason and “BJ Leilua diet” after the season starts
Fitness tests just to check all limbs are attached before cleared to play (refer Taylan, Maka, Bula, AD, Samuela)
At least 2 off field media circuses per season
Take at least 1-2 home games outside of Sydney

I feel better after this rant

i think the press conference goes ahead on monday

benji mentioned it last night
this has all been released by jarome and his team
its all

it was quite amicable i believe where it has soured is that parra didnt want to carry the one million $ tag and were hoping tigers would bend , discussions happening for well over a week

club only will contribute 200k, if a deal cant be done, jarome could find himself on the bench /cup (this was the club stance)

jarome is trying to push the agend`l a and force us to pay more
The Bears will pay more than Parra...

Chin up.
Wests Tigers for life.
It’s a tough life, but it’s in our blood. 🩸
Love ya work BWG. If it wasn’t for all your updates rural fans would have no idea who half the players are that we have coming through. Certainly wouldn’t get it from the club.
Take some time with ya Family, have some fun. Hopefully one of our teams gets a win next weekend.
Good words @Buttface & @GNR4LIFE

I wouldn’t be as peeved if our systems in both attack & defence showed potential to be effective but we looked slow, clunky & lazy in all 3 grades and the sames issues just repeated themselves.

Some positives were in the performances of Haywood & Pole (NRL), Javon Andrews, Saukuru, Tavana, Aho & Taateo (Cup) and Duncombe, Mitch Taotua & Taupau-Moors (Flegg).

But as a club, we are so far behind Penrith & Warriors, in personnel, systems & professionalism, it’s not funny.

BB keeps banging on about lack of size, and I keep hearing Saukuru’s name, is he bigger than the average?

Bit late to the forum today due to work & I am both angry and disheartened.

Collectively our men's teams lost to the Warriors 32 to 116 this round. NRL beaten by 26, Cup beaten by 24 & Flegg beaten by 34.

This is unacceptable!

Was looking forward to our lower grades today but the same attacking & defensive systems we apply in NRL are applied through the grades, and guess what, it's the same issues through the grades. Our red zone attack is sideways & we get caught in defence on the edges so many times with a final overlap.

I have no passion to write any more today - this club just saps the energy out of me.
We had 3 wins in KOE against teams lower on the table and there were some carrying on here like they were world beaters.

Probably just a step back to the reality of following this club. We aren't anywhere near where we need to be.

Thinking left of field.
Does the team need an old hard head style defensive coach ?
Like Beau Scott, David Gillespie, or even Terry Randall.
I don’t think any of those would be able to help, but maybe sign a few hard hitting defenders such as Ray Stone and Liam La Blanc to give us some live demonstrations.
You probably could only have one of them in the top 17 at a time as they don’t have much attack about them, but we certainly lack hard hitting defenders.

Adds some sparke to our backline, imo

1. Jahream Bula
2. Sunia Turuva
3. Jake Averillo
4. Taylan May
5. Makasini/ Tupou/ Tavana
1. Jahream Bula / Jack Attard
2. Sunia Turuva / James Schiller
3. Jake Averillo / Rocco Berry
4. Taylan May / Solo Saukuru or Junior Tupou
5. Heamasi Makasini / Jonathan Su’a or Sione Finau
6. Adam Doueihi / Javon Andrews
7 Latu Fainu / Jock Madden
8. Terrell May / Samuel Hughes
9. Api Korisau / Tyson Smoothy
10. Alex Twal / Alex Seyfarth
11. Kai Pearce-Paul / Kelma Tuilagi
12. Samuel Fainu / Ethan Roberts
13. Shawn Blore / Liam Le Blanc

14. Jared Haywood
15. Ray Stone or Sam McIntyre
16. Sione Fainu
17. Fonua Pole

** This type of playing roster would give us much better depth including some big strong, tall and fast outside backs to challenge the starting NRL line up.
** Rocco Berry has hardly played in 2 seasons so signing him would be a big risk, but if you manage to get him injury free he is a top class attacking right centre or wing option.
** If Berry was a no go due to being too big of an injury risk, Hazyn Melllars would be a great target with Schiller a more than capable right centre option.
** Viliami Vailea and Max Feagai are other solid right centre depth options.
** Shawn Blore would be a great inclusion on the proviso he was keen to play as a middle forward with the option of playing on an edge if we get injuries.
** Ray Stone or Sam McIntyre and Liam Le Blanc are all hard hitting and aggressive defence including good line speed McIntyre is a bit of an afterthought, but I know a few of our fans are keen on the idea of him returning and when you think about it he could be a bigger bodied and better all round option than someone like Ray Stone.
** Samuel Hughes would be an extra big bodied prop with plenty of NRL experience to add real competition for a top 17 middle forward position.
** Kelma Tuilagi has had probably his best season in the NRL this season and is a genuine big bodied line running threat if playing on an edge to cover injuries. He could also be used as a strike weapon off the bench and could be ready to also spend time playing as a middle forward if required. His defence appears to have improved and now much better than it was previously.
** Tyson Snoothy could be someone to give us a tough tackling hooker option which would be ideal to start in rotation with Jared Haywood if Api is out.
** Josh Schuster on a Train & Trial deal with the possibility to be upgraded
** I would ideally keep Tony Sukkar if possible as I think he still has a fair bit of improvement in him, but maybe better suited as a mobile middle forward.
** Peter Taateo, Archie Duncombe and Mitch Taotua all ideally kept on lower tier deals and Glassie Glassie on a Development deal.
** Tino Tavana, Josese Lanyon and Haze Dunster all possibly kept on lower tier deals and consideration for Luke Jack, Vaka Aho, Ben Stevanovic and Bailey Hodges.
** Consideration for Heath Mason to be kept on a lower tier deal on the proviso he is developed as an impact 9 or 13.
** A big watch and see how Christian Taupau-Moors develops along with our other current developments prospects in Phoenix Godinet, Siotave Havea Jr and Blake Van Driie.
