Perth have that wrapped up already.Need a couple signings for 27 or we start spoon favourites with Perth and Parra. Time for a new attack coach as well. Hello darkness my old friend, another rebuild
Definitely not from just Luke, but were we already short of this years cap?. How much did we front pay in total?Surely we don’t get 300k savings from moving Laulilii 6 months early?
He was shocking in SOO 3 .....missed tackles to the first two NSW tries and knocked on twice in the 2nd halfCapewell re-signing with the Wahs for another year
Latu has had a pretty much injury free season atm so im all good with him coming in next year. Javon im more worried about, i just dont want us to bugger their development because we need them, like we did with Galvin. Javon should spend the next 2 seasons in and out of first grade and reserve grade to find his feet and get used to N.R.L. Latu has to some extent been doing that but what boggles my mind is if we had been speaking to Luai for 5 weeks about going knowing we were going with our young halves then why the heck was Madden our half and not Latu and Latu our hooker / 14 and not Madden.the way it seems to be working out listening to the chit chat here ,Romeys money just gets sunk into propping up the ship to move forward 2 more spaces ,until it catches up with us to upgrade maybe Jovan n Latu ,and we do the whole balance the salary cap again. I want as a supporter for those 2 kids to do next year in Reggies , get Nikorema , O Sullivan or Humphries in the side to saddle up with Dougyhowser for another low placed spot at worst ,then set those 2 kids free .Jovon doesn't have the mentality , and Latu the physic ,yet . Whats another year in the grand scheme of things
Not if Douhis form is the same as last week for the rest of the year. In saying that we cant just force Javon in if hes not ready, Madden cant do it consistantly long term. Might have to perservere with Douhi. Hes going to need to be much, much better than last weeks effort though.Long-term Javon with Latu our halfback. Will be interesting when the transition of Javon into the team commences with AD's seniority likely to keep him in the halves for the short-term.
No doubt but i dont think To'as cash covers all of it. Wasnt Avarillo signed for around an avg of 600k a year.He takes Toa’s cash
Good suggestion. Ivan Cleary might be willing to come back he would be handy in the role. Though no matter who it is, Benji needs to approve or they will be punted. The setup atm really makes the GM of football position obsolete. Even though we really need one to help Benji. Till Benji realises it and is willing to delegate more responsability it will end in tears unless its someome Benji trusts. Basically a yes man. Mind as well just let Benji do it himself if thats the case.On a tangent with this suggestion & I get that Pat Richards has recently been employed as an Operations type manager in the Football Dept, but the Club should approach Penrith Head of Football Shane Elford to come across to become GM of Football.
There is no GM of Football with us atm with Shaun Mielekamp now appointed full-time CEO.
Keeps the 2005 band happy & straight away will see deficiencies in our entire football and strength & conditioning program from his experience at the greatest club in the modern era.
Thoughts?
Nah we wouldn’t have the cash to pay what Ivan would be demandingGood suggestion. Ivan Cleary might be willing to come back he would be handy in the role. No chance Cleary would ever come back. Why would he? Why would he want to stain the legacy he’s built the last 6 or 7 years?Good suggestion. In Ivan's press conference declaring his end date to coaching the riff he said he would be looking at other options away from club coaching. No chance Cleary would ever come back. Why would he? Why would he want to stain the legacy he’s built the last 6 or 7 years?
Yeah, he’s done as a head coach. He’s won four premierships and mostly likely will win at least one more. Nothing left for him to achieve. In Ivan's press conference declaring his end date to coaching the riff he said he would be looking at other options away from club coaching.
Blues, Roos, even a different job at the Panthers.
Not really obsolete. Mielekamp was in the role prior to being appointed Interim CEO & was still in that role then too. Before Shaun, Betsey was GM of Football.Good suggestion. I think Dave Chappelle & Charlie Murphy.I just think of a pint of Guinness when I hear that
The question is would Richo have seen Luai as a GUN or as a move-on?What do you think Richo would have done when Jerome chose PNG over the Tigers?
I have been thinking about it
I think Jerome would have been out of the club before the June 30 cutoff
He won't be a fraction of the cost after reaching his potential so it's a weird comment.A simple question for everyone to answer to themselves.
If Latu reaches the potential most people believe he has, will he be a better halves option than Luai at a fraction of the cost?
I understand there is no guarantee Latu will reach the potential most people believe he has, but I assume it was likely he would become frustrated and looked to head elsewhere at the end of his current contract that finishes in 2027 had Luai stayed with us for the full 5 years which would have partially blocked his path.
So by what we have done, it will surely give Latu the opportunity to own a spot in the halves for our NRL team in 2027 and finally be able to show us if he can live up to his potential.
It’s a risk we had to take particularly when we come to the realisation that Luai was not regularly providing value for money on the playing field and contract money was restricting us from having enough salary cap money available to sign more quality of depth within our playing roster.
Agreed forum Fiction is too kind of a word for it.Apparently his clauses wouldve been removed had richo stuck around so PNG wouldve been moot...however I think this is probably a but of forum fiction tho...something, li ke.most things here none of us will ever know
And yet he's still played more origins than you and I put together. He was shocking in SOO 3 .....missed tackles to the first two NSW tries and knocked on twice in the 2nd half
