Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Hornby would be a handy attacking coach, Teo is a really god defensive coach. We need someone whos no nonsense and get a good defensive system into the guys.
Take into consideration the defensive coach cannot do much about it if the coach keeps selecting blokes who don’t want to tackle and the attacking coach cannot do much if the coach keeps selecting blokes who don’t want to run hard or hit top speed quickly.

The clubs should undertake strategic planning in the Camden, Picton, Narellan and new Airport precinct regions and determine the best model moving forward. That is where imo our future is plus Campbelltown but retaining the very important Inner West.
People talking like a property developer, not a football club.

Just because the population grows, how does that help the club? How does a new airport assist us? Please help me.

By your logic, UAE has the fastest population growth in the world and they are building lots of things...why doesn't the NRL move a team there?

Let's just accept this is the 90% owners forcing their agenda on the team...we are the Magpies now...the Wests Tigers name is just symbolic.

I wonder if the club exists in 10 years
It will, unfortunately you don't get out supporting the tiger so easily.... We are financially sound that's all the NRL care about.

Who was the last team that folded due to financial issues, couldn't tell you.

Souths were the last team kicked out of the comp, what year was that ? We know how that ended.

The only way we get success is if HBG sell us because they sure as shit won't change the debenture system....

The heritage deed concerns me.
It was enacted 12 years ago...and expires in 4 years.
There doesnt seem to be any great rush to extend this

Getting close to the mark. Benji knows best.

Benji the only handbrake on any new assistants.
My assumption is; when advice is given but not headed over time it becomes a lost cause.
Same with coaching and selections. Players know when it's wrong so play without spirit.
That's why it will be hard to attract any quality---without paying well overs or with get out clauses.
Uh plus money and not being a desirable club to even go to.

Gee there seems to be a lot of people in the know here -
Scroll back to Maguire when he was failing here and all the inside info on him being paranoid about assistants, being past the game, unapproachable yaddah yaddah and can guarantee that it was 99% assumption too.
Benji will be fine when he gets packed off with the money he will be owed (-just like Maguire who was predicted to never coach again on here -) will still own the best highlight real in the game, be respected by his peers for his impact on the game, and those who really know what has gone on will be puzzled how he lasted so long. .. And WTs trying to sell a fantasy to the next person who thinks they can make a difference

I luv Benji, and want him to succeed,as my previous posts would show, but the one thing that has been his weakness, while so many strengths, would be to alow mediocrisy creep in,while trying to be a new age coach, because men will allways respect discipline,we need it to function and not take our foot off the pedal, that’s what’s missing Benji,You’re the coach, allways saying they are entitled to their opinion is not allways right,They need a barometer, each player

His coaching legacy will be reflected by his hubris in thinking all you have to do to be an NRL coach is tell the bosses you want to do it, then get those in front of you removed.

I don't buy that Tucker. I believe he thought he could make a difference.
Foran is fresh out of playing zero experience and everyone was on board with him. Didnt hesitate to take it on because he backs himself - same as Benji.
We all know the fate of failed coaches and the best clubs don't turn over coaches because the provide resources to make them successful.
If you fail at WTs that goes with the territory for coaches and players.

Him believing he could make a difference is the hubris I mentioned.
We could have a roster like the Chooks and he’d have them struggling to make the 8

Maybe but their squad/club is so far removed from anything that Benji has had to work with its like comparing apples with oranges.
No coach has been successful at this club since Sheens and Roosters don't do rebuilds they just replace what they need with equal or better.
Can only fantasise about as a WTs fan

Our big problem is we believe in local juniors.
How arrogant do you have to be to think you can build an elite NRL team out of local kids?
Yes Penrith did it, but they already had successful systems and processes in place. Theyve played in 8 GFs in the past 35 years. 20 finals series in their 40 year history. Our club can not compete with this and attempting to emulate them is never going to work.

Well I hope you're wrong because with all the new teams coming in signings from outside clubs is going to be very slim pickings.

If this Shaun dude can't get the pathways firing we're screwed, especially if Benji gets shafted, we'll be depending on them and it needs to be up and firing max 5 years.
