Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

An improving 21y.o Da Silva scoring tries nearly every game he plays or an ageing and slowing Korisau.
No contest, Da Silva will be far the superior player in 2027 and beyond.
I do think Haywood is potentially better than Da Silva, but that is no guarantee and it would have been nice to have both of them playing in tandem for a couple of years.
Can't disagree with this enough
Api is our heart and soul. I could agree he isn't an 80 min hooker, but to put da silver in the same breath as api is beyond disrespectful. Da Silver has had a couple of ok games against a bloke that is the best player on our squad. I reckon you should ask Moses his opinion becasuse he absoulety roasts him every game for bad opitions.

Da silva misses 1000 tackles a game

Solo is averaging a try a game too.

Hooker is not the place you need a prolific try scorer. The top teams don’t allow the 9 the space to run. Distribution and defence far more important.

TDS was the last junior I wanted us to lose but we could never have run with both him and Haywood. We would be ripped to shreds through the middle even worse than now.

TDS will be a very good hooker in time ,needs time to physically develop you talk ex players who see the improvement in his game.

Haywood needs to build his frame and needs more time in KOE cup to season him up and should not in First grade until later part of 2027. Hopefully Brailey pans out so that Haywood is brought along slowly.

His problem is he likes to talk on the socials, if he just went about his business without talking there wouldnt be any problem. He is his own worst enemy.
Even if he wasn't talking you don't think there'd be people taking photos of him in PNG? They love rugby league over there and are crazy over seeing celebs or stars and treat them like gods. I'd argue even without talking he'd still cop it for going there. Not much about AJ who has third party deals there as well as Cooper Bai

I dont think Latu is worth an upgraded contract until he can prove to be an 80min player and finish over 20 games in a season
Probably right, it's just a touchy subject when the future gun 2nd rower's brother comes as a package deal.

Delicate approach to negotiations needed, probably why it's taking so long, don't buy they're waiting for Tartac's ban to pass.

Can't just close up the business, others would cover him while he's missing.

Or our mate romey has lined them up for PNG

12 tries from dummy half when he wasn’t getting much game time earlier in the season is something only very good players can do.
Api has been a great player, but his age is catching up with him, he is noticeably fatiguing during games and will become a big liability if we continue to play him for anywhere near 80mins per game in 2027.
If we reduce his minutes to around 50mins we should still get value out of him.

Is it a case of our biggest strength, sometimes becoming our biggest liability?
The strength of having family members and very close friends as part of our team is of course a strength when everything is going well, but when it comes to having to make decisions on who to keep and who to let go, you can see how it would make it very tricky and hard to keep everyone happy.
AD is seemingly very close with Twal and Seyfarth.
I know many of our fans could not care less if we offloaded AD and it upset Seyfarth and some may also not care if it upset Twal, but Seyfarth and Twal are important parts of our forward depth, so we need to keep them unless we can replace them other players as good or better on similar contract values which is easier said than done.
Turuva’s starting position his starting to come under question and he is very well paid, I would say overpaid for the qualities he provides. But he is Api’s cousin and Api played a major role in getting him to the club, so it would no doubt upset Api if we were to even consider letting Turuva look at other options shortly after re-signing with us.
Same story with the May brothers. They are a package deal and now both need to live up to their big money contracts, so it would be almost impossible to offload one and not the other if either of them do not perform up to standard.
Then we have the Fainu brothers who are also no doubt somewhat of a package deal.
We supposedly have Sione contracted for somewhere around 350 - 400k which I believe is very reasonable for a player of his calibre.
Samuela no doubt will need to be upgraded from what was rumoured to be a 500k per season contract with us.
I would say if we offer him 800k with ratchet clauses which would make his contract very similar to what is has been reported the Bulldogs are paying Jacob Preston, I think that would be very fair and our limit.
Latu would be very hard to price. Due to a bad run of injuries, suspensions and Benji not really handling his development all that well, we ideally want to keep him, but we do not know for certain if he will fulfill his potential.
I think we probably have to match his previous 500k contract which is a lot of money to find out if he lives up to his potential, therefore I hope we do not go any higher than that until we him regularly play well and at times dominate as an NRL halve.
We can obviously upgrade him if he does start fulfilling his potential.
Latu is still an enigma...need a reasonable base plus performance clauses

It’s a concern that he has hardly played in the halves over the past couple of years, but his lone game at 7 for our NSW Cup team was top class and showed he still has the instincts and class to become a high quality NRL halves nice given the opportunity.
