Jock Madden is set to hit the open market with the club yet to table an extension to keep him beyond 2027.

And it’s understood rising playmaker Latu Fainu, who joined the Tigers as part of a package deal with brother Samuela in 2024, is also yet to receive an offer as the November 1 deadline looms.

It adds another twist to a season in which the futures of coach Benji Marshall’s first choice halves in Jarome Luai and Adam Doueihi dominated the headlines at different stages – and leaves the Tigers facing some major questions in the halves.

Because while Madden has not always been at the top of the halves pecking order at the Tigers, the numbers suggest the 26-year-old’s presence on the field is making a difference.

The Tigers have won 50 per cent of their games with Madden in the side this season.

By comparison, the Tigers won 35 per cent of games in which Doueihi played and just 26 per cent with Luai in the side.

It’s understood Madden has a strong desire to remain at the club.

Marshall has indicated that Doueihi and boom rookie Javon Andrews, who made his NRL debut in Round 20, are the future in the Tigers halves with both signed until 2029 and 2028, respectively.

Dolphins back Jake Averillo, who has played mostly at centre at Redcliffe but can slot in the halves, will also arrive on a four-year deal until the end of 2030.

The futures of Madden and Fainu are not the only significant contract calls the club are yet to make.
Barnstorming backrower Samuela Fainu is also yet to be offered a deal to extend beyond 2027 and will undoubtedly be a hot commodity on the open market in two months time.

Rising forward Fonua Pole is also a November 1 prospect and has long been linked with a move back home to Melbourne Storm, where his brother Suli is also signed.
