Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If Doueihi at 5/8 is purely a bridge for Javon into later 2027 and then 2028, that is fine.

Pure & simple, we will not reach the pinnacle with AD in the halves. Based on pure class & ability, the duo who COULD lead us to the top is Latu & Javon.

AD could evolve into a good lock, Madden will be a very good back-up halfback and who knows with Schuster.

The future has to be Latu & Javon in the halves with Haywood at hooker if Benji is fair dinkum. Otherwise we'll need to recruit from outside.
Have to say the first half of 2027 season will be make or break for Benji- several key issues need improvement- assistant coaches, bench selection and usage, some player selections (both player and positions) at the least. On top of that, the usual recruitment and retention choices are / will be front and centre. We still need decision on proper halfback.

I reckon it’s highly likely Benji will stick solid with the experience of Doueihi at 5/8 with Latu given plenty of time and every opportunity to make the 7 jersey his own. Have the reliable and experienced Jock Madden as back up and applying pressure for the starting 7 jersey and the emerging Javon as back up and applying pressure for the starting 6 jersey.
I’m happy with that and think we should have enough quality on our halves to get the job done, providing we have the players around them doing their job.
All our edges constantly looking to hit the ball at speed and be genuine tackle bust of line break options is the main one.
So it’s highly unlikely we are in the market for Ronald Volkman, but it must be tempting as we could theoretically offer him the starting 6 jersey and he is a player who has the potential to become elite and is already proving his ability at NRL level.

Volkman has come to terms with the Eels. Josiah Papali'i on the outer though, could add to our fullback/halves utility depth.

It’s about showing your team mate how you care. The Fainu's run in when it’s their brother in trouble, because they care. You’re missing the point. It’s not about knocking out the opposition player, it’s about showing your team mate you have his back.
Yep see it on a regular basis when other teams are playing.

He’s a handy little player, loses nothing to the likes of Tuapiki at the Warriors, just waiting for an opportunity.
He would be very handy to have, but I can’t see how we would have any more room in our top 30 for another fullback, 5/8 or halfback if we work on the theory our NRL starters will be Bula, Doueihi and Latu and our back ups will be Attard, Andrews and Madden.

I think the key is offloading Doueihi

Not really a utility in those names anywhere, which is pretty much Heath’s spot in the roster

Too many sixes and not enough sevens. Or even at least one good seven.
He was playing 7 for the Warriors recently before getting injured.
Very good player, now on the wrong side of 30, coukd he bring a couple of the monsters on the edges for the Warriors with him?
People keep asking the question how the Warriors keep winning even through their halves keep getting injured.
The correct answer is their monsters on their edges are a nightmare for every opposing defence and makes the halves job very easy.

All their halves look a million bucks behind the best forward pack in the comp

Heath was technically top 30 contracted as our back up fullback this season as the top 30.
With Attard taking the top 30 back up fullback spot in 2027, there is no room for Heath unless we put him on Develolment or Train & Trial contract and he is happy with it,
