Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Sorry RHS ....but it drives me crazy with the amount of people who suggest Doueihi as a lock ......his defence is crap for starters ....defence is the most important thing in NRL
Good point, he had improved his defence for a while but recently there's been ordinary attempts to deal with his man.

Defence would have to improve out of sight to be any good at lock for long periods during a game.

With the other thoughts on here I'm beginning to wonder if he should just bugger off and have a whinge at another club.

Every NRL team who are doing well have a 13 who significantly adds to their teams attack.
Currently we have Twal or Seyfarth playing 13 who both do their best in that position, but they are plodders who are no attacking threat to the opposition and this plays a big part in why our attack is often so dull and boring.
We do not currently have anyone who can play 13 who can defend strongly and be an attacking threat and there is antibody available to recruit who do both well either.
So the best we can hope for should be using two players in the 13 role, one starting who is a strong defender then being replaced or changing position to prop at around the 20 minute mark, allowing us to bring on a player with much more of attacking threat in the 13 role.
Adam Doueihi fits the description with his size and strong ball carrying ability, but has a question mark on his defensive ability.
He has very rarely and I don’t think ever in Wests Tigers colours had the luxury of coming on after 20mins, so you would think being fresh would assist him in defending much better and defending in the middle might come easier to him as most of his defensive stuff ups have been due to arm grabbing when struggling with his lateral movement.
Everyone has their own opinion and we may or may not ever het a chance to see if it would work or not.
So basically your saying attack is more important than defence
That's garbage .....ask any good judge and they will tell you otherwise

Calling Twal & Seyfarth plodders is a bit of a joke

Yes buggering off would be nice .... has been extremely injury prone and a pissweak defender and caused problems when he doesn't get his way
The only thing I'd keep of Doueihi is his goalkicking ....way more cons than pros in my opinion

Kris is reliable.
De Groot I haven’t seen much of.
Schiller depends who turns up on the day,
Have seen him look very good
BUT
Also seen him have some absolute shockers

I would imagine they are all quicker than what we have now.
Prefer Schiller out of that list. Kris is terrible defensively which is why Canberra are happy to see him go. Ricky has called him out for years for it and he still hasn't made much of an effort to improve in that area.

All 3 are well above average in the pace department.
Schiller now in his mid twenties is a potential NRL star who has so far let himself down with too many brain explosions and defensive lapses.
I know many of our fans will say we don’t need any more players who have brain explosions and defensive lapses.
That is true, but if you get the right version of him, he is an absolute weapon with height, speed, athleticism, strength, aggression and skill.
Why not get Brett Naden back then......

I’m saying you need both.
What other NRL team except is regularly plays props with little to no attacking flair as their 13 for the full 80mins every game?
Which NRL teams are using 13s that can't defend to save themselves and that categorically don't want to be 13
Defence is first and foremost .....ask the Panthers

Yeo is an ex centre.
He is much quicker, much more of a run threat and has a much slicker passing game than the players we are currently using at 13.

So if we had Doueihi at lock as you wish .....name a worse defender at 13 in the NRL
How do you know how he defends at 13 for only 40, maybe 50 minutes per game, it hasn’t been tested?
Damian Cook is a very solid defender in the middle and looked like a very ordinary defender when moved to the centres to cover injuries a few times over the last few years.
It is very different defending at 13 compared to defending in the halves or the centres.

He can't defend in the halves .....and you want to double his workload
I'll ask the question again .....name a current 13 in the NRL whose a worse defender than Doueihi
I actually argue that at multiple sides the best defender is a 13
And you want Doueihi.....
Your a misguided soul
