Great in theory, but nothing stops them from leaving once they are ready for NRL.

We should be addressing why they want to leave.

Absolutely, and the answer is simple. Our club’s culture is poor, our 11 coaches in 20 years have resulted in more losses than wins, and very few elite players want to come to our club.

Fun fact: the Tigers have had a losing record in 22 of their 27 seasons.

The reality is that HBG has dropped some major bombs that have derailed most of our seasons and totally ignored the Crawford-Barnier report. I’m surprised that Barry got his job back, although it’s clearly not making much of a difference.

You would think that when fans consistently complain, send emails, sign petitions on Change.org and even protest, it would be a sign that something is wrong and that you need to improve your governance, board and internal management.

I don’t see how a coach can build a strong team when the club is consistently front loaded and doesn’t have a forward thinking, creative board with a clear vision for the future of our club.

Yeah I saw that first article last year, and it's an awesome commitment to sports medicine, physiotherapy and player welfare through education at WSU.

However I'm worried that there's not enough of a balance between the inner West/Ryde area and the South West. A lot of our inner Wests juniors are being recruited by Souths, the Dogs and Parra.

There was an article in the Telegraph about this -

This will continue to happen. Schools like Holy Cross, are now focusing on football rather than league, and the AFL is making huge inroads into the South West.

The last article is a PR beat up. It's easy to make up stories after a win.

Let’s say we sign Tyson Frizell who will be 35y.o in October this year, who does he replace from our top 17 when we are full strength?
I know we need depth and I’m all for improving our depth, but I assume he would not be coming to play reserve grade and I’m not convinced at age 35 he will be a better top 17 option than what we already have?

Personally I think Frizell is just about Frazzeled and not worth signing.

I don't think a bloke like Frizell would put up with blokes vaping in the gym. What worth he would bring to the squad would be more off the field. We have raw talent, we need structure and discipline. I think Benji wants more adults in the squad.

Frizell is a great signing, even if he's not in the best 17. Our biggest issue this year was that we fell off when we lost a few key players to injuries. Frizell is the perfect type of player to come in when injuries hit and make sure that the standard does not drop off.

Much prefer Frizell as first man up rather than a kid not ready for first grade.

We complain a lot about our halves, but we are seeing a finals game with 2 halfbacks Sandon Smith and Bud Sullivan who are bog average. Souths even have an ESL discard playing fullback.

Yes both teams have a couple of X factor players around them but goes to show how far a solid structure and game plan can go.

Isn't it funny. You say that pack is similar to the one that struggled a for a couple of months when you could also easily say that same pack dominated oppositions easily at the start if the year and have proven they are capable of doing it.

Well, contrary to the belief by almost all on here, I don't think our pack was dominating other teams early in the year.

We had a good strategy early in the year (which got figured out by r5 or so), and in most of those games played with about 10% more possession. Watch most of those games back (Cowboys, Parra, Broncos, Raiders, Cowboys etc), and the moment we had to do some defence, we fell apart very quickly. But it was hidden by us winning and the high rates of possession. Take for example the EELS Game r4 or so, we were parked in there 20m the whole 2nd half, couldn't offer a punch...they finally get the ball down our end and just go bang bang. The Broncos loss.....they had something like less than 12 tackles in our 20m but scored every time. We spent the entire game down their end and struggled to go over.

The issues were 100% there, but most people are blindsided to see it. To most people, we were 'dominating packs', 'playing like the tigers of 05' and yeah 'how many origin players will the tigers have this year?'

I think you have that wrong in a way. I agree the issues were there to see like you are saying but the reason we got away with those inadequacies was becasue our pack was so dominant

I agree and was stating during that great winning start that we weren’t playing that well for large chunks but were taking opportunities offered.
I do think our packs were holding field position well though, but it was mostly great individual footy that had us winning.

I said that it would be a poor signing at $700k, primarily because father time will catch up with him at the age of 35. Our club has always had problems keeping veterans fit, but more importantly, it will block the path of our juniors. I doubt he would want to play a depth or reggies role for us.

What we need are experienced attack and defense assistant coaches to support Benji.

Holbrook has taken Newcastle from last to the top eight. Great coaches are key, and he's proved this.
