Frizell has not played edge back row at all this season, he’s played only as a middle.
In saying that I don’t doubt his stats probably read well as it has been noticeable he has wound back the clock a little with plenty of strong ball carries and some hard hitting defence.
It will be very interesting to see how he plays tonight as the Knights will need a big game from him if they are any chance.
In saying all this, Barry Toohey the well respected local Newcastle journalist seems to think he will stay at the Knights.
The other question is, was Samuela at his best this season?
I think he was way below his best, regularly fading in and out of games without much involvement.
All Wests Tigers supporters are well aware of his ability and get swept up in the fact he is an edge player who can steamroll an opponent and run good lines to make line breaks, but I’m not sure if it was the contract negotiations playing a part, or if he was playing injured over the back half of the season, but his involvement was very minimal and we need much higher involvement from him next season and beyond should we be able to retain him

A little big off topic, but is the UK Super League competition currently any better than NSW Cup?
Charlie Staines looks like he will make the most metres gained in the entire competition, it is projected Joe Ofahengaue will be a prop in the team of the year and Solomona Faatape is highly regarded as one of the best centres in the competition.

Is Saukuru the leading try scorer in NSW Cup still ?

Is Saukuru the leading try scorer in NSW Cup still ?

We seemed tj have a lot of players playing injured and way below their best because of it over the back end of the season.

A lightning fast winger who was previously in the Bulldogs lower grades and this season with the Rabbitohs named Jordi Maxzone finished the season as the leading try scorer in NSW Cup.
He looks a potential NRL player just for his sheer speed and try scoring ability alone, or of that doesn’t work out he will be a superstar in the UK Super League.
I hope we keep Saukuru as he should be further improved next season and you would assume he works hard on improving his defence.
He along with Makasini and Tupou should be good competition for our NRL left wing spot and be good cover if Taylan May is out injured.

they may as well keep Suakuru now for one more year at league minimum .,considering the years of previous investment..,but his defence is a major concern for someone of his age …. Does the light suddenly come on this offseason ? If he plays an NRL game next season,,,he will be targeted

Even if someone is temporary filling in for him while suspended, it’s not the same. Tartak is really close with the family as mentioned earlier plus a temp wouldn’t be as effective with negotiating even if Tartak was secretly telling them what to do.

Yeah agree, Samuela was one of our best up until his injury in the Sharks game. He produced x-factor plays & his chases, defence and efforts were top notch.

The area Samuela can improve but it was more due to his half inside him is to use him in block plays hitting holes a lot more - he'd be destructive.

Tartak's suspension is up in December.

Get him on the tackling machines all preseason and if we do get Frizzell, put him under Frizzell's guidance

I'd still take Bevan French & Junior Nsemba any day of the week and one player to keep an eye on for potential NRL movement is Ellery Hanley's son ... Umyla Hanley.

He has just signed with Black Money agency which is interesting.

Could he hold an ambition to play where his Dad played - Balmain & Wests?

Arguably the best centre in ESL this season but no bigger than Oliver Gildart which would worry me.

I like all the upgrades we’ve made and I definitely think we look like a better team because of them. My concern, though, is that it still doesn’t really address the underlying issue we had this year: our depth.

Our starting 17 has improved, but below that there still isn’t a lot there. Ideally, we’re adding enough quality that players like Starford and Bunty become genuine depth options rather than simply replacing one player with another in the starting side. At the moment, it still feels like we’re mostly swapping one-for-one.

Outside of the wing/centre positions, where we at least have some NRL experience through guys like Mak, Tupou, Saukuru and Herbert....depending on who we retain.... there aren’t many players underneath the top 17 that you’d feel confident calling on for an extended period at first-grade level.

That said, I understand where the club is at. For a team like ours, not many NRL experienced players will come to be depth. The starting side is clearly getting stronger; hopefully the next step is continuing to build genuine NRL-quality depth underneath it.

If we signed most of the suggestions on here we'd have a squad of 50 min and a cap total of 30 million min.

Most of the time the suggestion comes up after they’ve had a good game. Coby Black for example.

The rugby league stronghold is Yorkshire and Lancashire but it is well behind the leading sports of soccer, cricket and rugby. I hope the NRL can revitalise the game to where it use to be.
