Miekekamp doesn’t control our recruitment and retention, does he?
For the past couple of years, Benji has been given full control of our recruitment and retention with the assistance of Shannon Gallant, so I assume that stays the same while Benji is our coach.
You are correct in saying we still need a few more signings, otherwise our depth will be no better, potentially worse than this season.

While that may have been somewhat correct in the past, that Benji and Richo managed recruitment with Gallant largely doing juniors, this current setup does not work. Benji has continuosly targeted the wrong players in all grades. We have no depth, no pace, no skill, no power. Benji's idea of talent is an undersized, family focused, hard working guy. And that's not good enough.

Benji should be consulted with first grades recruits of course, but should have practically nothing to do with recruitment across all other grades. We need to hire a scout like PoS and let him manage recruitment. Gallant can stay as our head of South West recruitment. Richards can stay as a junior coach.

Benji has been spread far too thin. He thinks he can manage every aspect of the team and he doesn't trust anyone else to do anything for him. Hence he's surrounded by mates and yes men.

That can no longer be tolerated. If Benji is to remain as head coach he needs to be freed of all other duties, Focus on first grade coaching, and just consulted on other things as necessary. Hiring competent staff that he can comfortably delegate control to.

If he's unwilling or incapable of doing this then he can resign.

Define not a footy head? How many years does one need to work in footy before they achieve this status?
