It's a nice dream Milky, but Melbourne ain't gonna let him go in a hurry. They've been nurturing him since he was 15 and they have a lot invested in him. The Storm don't lose the ones they don't want to lose.

They've lost Proctor, Tohu and maybe Cronk in the last year.

Granted, I should've clarified that I meant that they don't lose the ones that they want of the young blokes coming through their ranks. And if anything, the loss of Proctor & Tohu means that the Storm will up the ante even more to retain up and comers like McLean & Asofa-Solomona.

The loss of Cronk is a totally different set of circumstances and by all accounts he will retire at the end of this year anyway.

Haven't they lost McLean to the Cowboys?

You're right! My bad, I don't know how I missed that  The Storm's recruitment seems to be slipping, they should never have let him go.

So Gus Gould reckons we've signed at least 2 more players from rival clubs.

Putting two and two together, you would assume they are from clubs that he has some inside info on (Panthers and Roosters)

I'd be inclined to believe that we have maybe signed an Aiden Guerra and/or Conor Watson and/or CHN or the like..

Still some talent on the market.

Fullback is probably the main one at the moment, but if we do get Guerra and Naera….....pretty decent forward pack and bench.

Don't get everyone's enthusiasm about Cody Walker, I think he's fairly average. As for the signings Gus is alluding to, I think it's Tui and Guerra or Hiku and Eastwood. I assume since we haven't heard anything about Edwards and CHN, that those aren't on. It looks like wishful thinking from everyone on here.

That's what I've made out of his comments.
Guerra/Watson/Hiku are my guesses. We haven't been linked to CHN, he's been more forum talk, unless I've missed something in the media…

We have made contact with CHN. There was a article about cronulla and manly chasing him but also that tigers have made contact. They were hoping that Chn relationship with ET might get him here.

Also said hel most likely stay.

Moley reporting yesterday that Nathan Ross from the Knights is looking for an upgrade, and isn't happy with what he's getting paid, apparently reserve graders are getting more than himself and he's prepared to talk to other clubs.

He came out last night and admitted to these claims, I can't paste the article for some reason but its a interesting read (search it up you'll be able to find it)…... Claims "bigger clubs are after him now" and he's asking for "less than 500k", he's only on 150 k for this season and next, and with the birth of his second child days ago is looking for an upgrade to support his family and that means his open to leaving and talking to teams after the season in November when he's allowed to do so.

This quote caught my eye, "when you get a promotion at work, you usually get a raise".

Anyway, what's most likely to happen is that Newcastle will give him a hefty upgrade and he'll stay, but if they don't I'd happily take him every day of the week, very good winger and for 400-500 k it'd be a big yes.

Thoughts?

$500k for a non-representative winger. Well overs in my opinion.

He played for City this year and according to the article Dailey is considering him for Origin.

Thought he was excellent in the City, Country game.

Would love to have him at the Tigers - he is a real 150 per center.

Not worth that sort of money - Take him for 300k per season though.

Good that were interested, be stupid not to be. I think he'll stay at Penrith too but you never know!

Funny isn't it all these players wanting upgrades mid contract because they are playing worse. You never hear of players being willing to get less because they are playing rubbish. Perhaps if a player wants an upgrade he has to provide a player willing to be downgraded in return

Tbf to Nathan Ross, he's 28 a late bloomer, reserve graders are getting more than him, he's not demanding a release he's just saying he'll leave once his contract is expired…. He's had his second child recently and he's never die attitude is admirable, always giving 100% til the siren for a team like Newcastle. He's one of there best players and if Gagai goes imo he will be there best player.

A contract raise would be the right thing to do, but he's not threatening to walk out like Moses did

Here is a big unit that to my knowledge is still on the market, IMO he would be a perfect lock with Taylor & McQueen in the 2nd row. WT has lacked size in the backrow for a few yrs now and signing this guy who will only get better

We should defiantly have a big crack at him. We have the cash and some of the other forwards are on the older side. ET might be looking to go back to NZ for family reasons ,so we'll need a 13.

For gods sake how many new threads need to be merged into the appropriate thread before people will stop making new ones only to make a suggestion that has been made numerous times in the thread already set up for this discussion?

Nathen ross, tui, watson, edwards.

Am I the only one that doesnt want players contracted to another team?

The nrl has alot to answer for. Players now are playing one or two good games then demanding an upgrade or they walk. they also dont like being in reserve grade or the bench. You sign the contract and you abide by it. Both club and players. Take back the power of managers. If they dont like the contract or dislike there gametime, leave the club and get a normal job. But until your contract is up you cant play anywhere else.

This crap is getting out of hand and i for one is sick of it..
