Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Why is everyoneputting johnstone on the wing. The only reason hed leave soutgs is because of a fullback spot. He will not come here to play wing. So look for someone else.

Plenty of work to be done on the recruitment front for reserves and first grade.

If we have signed Lolohea and just waiting for the release - he is not coming here to play anywhere but FB for next year - I believe we have signed him.

Therefore if we signed Hoppa (I have changed my mind on him now that Sundays are included) it would be as a centre. MWZ has been going ok in defence but not fast enough in attack imo (I know it is early days but he is not going to get faster). Would still go for Gordon for one year on the wing for his kicking and is still a good player despite his age. Lolo is not a great kicker so it sort of forces your hand. Of course if you could pick up Gray or another good fast winger that wouldn't be bad either. So realistically I would settle on a backline like this at this stage:

1\. Lolohea
2\. Nofoaluma
3\. Suli
4\. Hoppa
5\. Gordon
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks

That is as a minimum is what we should be seeking

Lolohea
Edwards
Suli
Milne/Gray
Johnstone
Reynolds
Brooks

Reserves
Nofoaluma

I wouldn't be putting Dylan Edwards ahead of Nofoaluma at this point, if we were to get Edwards i would play him at Fullback and forget about Lolohea.

If we're honest, Edwards should be ahead of Nofoaluma everytime. If we had depth, Nofoaluma should be in ISP learning how to defend and regaining the pace he has lost. Edwards is on the way up and any errors made through inexperience would be offset by his far greater pace and defence. Lolohea is an unknown quantity under a quality coach.

Edwards is contracted to Penrith until 2018 so unless he's asking for a release can't see it happening.

I would be putting Edwards way ahead of Nofo. Defensively Nofo is just not up to NRL standard.

Make him a much better offer than the Panthers and the opportunity to play consistent NRL football. It would be hard for the Panthers to say no having regard to the TMM release to the Panthers.

Re the proposed second grade restructure for next year. Proposal is that all teams that play in the ISP second grade must be affiliated with a top grade team and any team who fields a team in ISP MUST also field an U20s team. ISP and U20s must play on the same day.

Looks like complete separation of lower grades and the NRL comp is on the cards.

that melbourne player stimson related to the great mark stimson? the player who lost a few toes due to that accident

I just checked and he is related! Hopefully he comes back home to the tigers one day. I still remember the day when he came back from his freak injury and scored a try and did a forward flip @ Leichhardt. Those were the days. When you couldn't check scores on your phone and had to rely on the ground announcer at half time to tell you the score.

Dylan Edwards is also a very handy goal kicker who would definitely solve our goal kicking problems is first grade. I would suggest that Wests Tigers make him a very large offer to convince him to move to the Tigers. He is quite talented, young and a much better prospect than Moses ever was.

If he isn’t off contract until end 2018 Tigers can’t offer anything until November 1 unless Panthers give him permission.

So Dane Gagai has not taken up his option for 2018 with Newcastle, and has informed them he is leaving…...

Who was the knucklehead on here that was adamant that he will never ever leave Newcastle, and had first hand info from Gagai's and his family?

And does anyone know where he has signed? I heard Souths were close. Would have been a great signing for us.

Souths, for $700k plus a year, hence Johnston is feeling left out.

Thanks 851.

Sounds like they got a good deal, considering what else you can get for $700k a year.

I've been hearing Johnston doesn't want to be at Souths next year and the Tigers are one of many clubs could offer him a contract. I'll be happy as long as the Tigers don't sign him for more than 700K.

I remember that anticipation!
