We all know hes useless….just wondering if there is anything official from the club

There are very obvious threads every time someone is officially signed. If there is no such thread then don't bother asking if there is anything official from the club…

Gee thanks scoop

I haven't been able to get secondary confirmation from within the club but I'll back my external source on Rona. He's adamant Rona is a done deal to tigers if force fold. Which looks to be the case.

So would the club wait around a few weeks to see whether thats the case or not? We could miss out on other targets doing so,surely within the ranks of the Force they must have an inkling you would have thought.

As of today Western Force is a going concern and all contracts are in force. ARU is meeting on June 21 and it is expected that Western Force will be dissolved and that date that defines when players can legally sign new contracts. There are a number of WF players who have negotiated and agreed to new contracts with other teams but nothing has been signed yet. June 22 is the key date.

Thanks for the clarification makes sense, so presumably all concerned think and know they are gone and have effectively signed contracts of intent that cant be lodged until the officially swing the axe.

I would imagine that some contracts have already been signed with activation clauses regarding the Force written in.

The force are gone. The melbourne rebels signed a english player this week and they wouldnt do that if they were getting kicked out. They all know. Just waiting on the details.

If the force do indeed fold, and Rona has already signed with us, will the cooling off period start the day the force folds or will we be able to announce his signing immediately?

He wouldn't have signed yet. He may have agreed to terms but he couldn't sign anything until things with his current club are more definite. Even said he would probably waiev his cooling off period if he's been planning his options for weeks and made his decision.

Furthermore….given the Force regular season ends in July (July 15 is their last game), I wonder if there's any chance they might let him go a few weeks early so he can start with us pre June 30?

rona was keen to do a deal as he didnt want to be left without a club as most clubs have spent their cap by the end of the year

It starts when the contract is lodged with the NRL I believe.

it will be interesting how much we would pay rona, he would be on very good money at the force. and there is no way the ARU would top up his contract with us, they would if he went to another aust rugby side.. iam glady we have got some great backs and maybe rona coming, but unless we get a prop and a backrower it may all be for nothing, we need to be able to cover when the big boys come off for a break.

Rona is a proven try scorer at both long distance and close to the try line. He also brings with him height and size which we have lacked until Suli was promoted from Balmain. He is worth whatever we need to pay him to bring him to WTs.

I totally agree with u, i wonder if we could mould him into a fullback roll if lolo fails. he signature would top of are backs for next year.

I think outside of Suli he will get plenty of opportunities to score tries. I'd be doing all I can to attract young Marsters from the Dragons. With depth in the fullback position, the Dragons will hardly notice his absence.

Our backline is starting to look quite decent now, plus we have more size and power which is a bonus. Nofo is a proven tackle breaker, Suli's post contact metres are among the best going around, Milne is 100kg, Fonua, another tackle breaker who is up around 107kg, then there's Rona, well over 6 feet tall and 102kg.

Should really help us get our sets started on the front foot with most of these players able to act as extra forwards with their carries.
