Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

it will be interesting how much we would pay rona, he would be on very good money at the force. and there is no way the ARU would top up his contract with us, they would if he went to another aust rugby side.. iam glady we have got some great backs and maybe rona coming, but unless we get a prop and a backrower it may all be for nothing, we need to be able to cover when the big boys come off for a break.

The ARU has to ensure he earns whatever he was contracted to earn next season. No matter what he does or where he goes. If he retires to work as a personal trainer they pay him the full 500k. If he goes to Japan, another super rugby club or anywhere else they have to make sure he gets at least $500k. They're the ones termianting his contract and they have the legal obligation to ensure he get's what he's supposed to.

Could mean we get him quite cheap next season too which would be a bonus. I imagine he's only contracted till the end of 2018?

Bodene Thompson….would you take him for 2018?

Quick question regarding Rona's contract.

Let's say he's on 500k at force and they fold, and he signs with us for 400k.

Will he pocket 900k, or do the ARU pay the additional 100k???

Also heard some mail that they've agreed terms, not the most realiable source I know….. But after reading this thread he must've hit the nail on the head.

Several of the Warriors game that I have seen this year his defence has been found wanting at times. Prefer Hoffman on a 1 year deal but he is getting on in years so the money may be better spent elsewhere.

His form latley has been shocking, it would be a no for me. There better options out there imo

His form has been poor but could improve at another club. However, we have enough second rowers and he would most likely have to play in reserve grade if he came here.

Can't see Bodene coming back to tigers when he left us a few years ago nor would we want him. In terrible form for Warriors atm.

Rona is a proven try scorer at both long distance and close to the try line. He also brings with him height and size which we have lacked until Suli was promoted from Balmain. He is worth whatever we need to pay him to bring him to WTs.

But who will miss out I would hate to think it would b Taane Milne sent to NSW cup

The perennial flea on 2sm tunks ..is still saying we have Eastwood, does anyone in the know have anything concrete regarding him

Mantits has no idea. Carries on about asking the hard questions, they get Ray Dib on and all he said to him was hello. Left it all to Hughes to put to him.

He's all fart and no turd.

Probably line up like this if Rona does sign with us.
1\. Lolohea
2\. Nofo
3\. Suli
4\. Milne
5\. Rona

That could be WT's best backline ever. Rona would be an excellent addition. loves to score tries.

The competition for spots in our backline next year will be fierce and is a great thing for the coach. Watch out for a big improvement in reserve grade next year!

Wow… Suli and Milne are two monsters that have heaps of potential. Suli reminds me of BJ Leilua when he plays. That is a great backline, assuming Lolohea kicks on and Nofo fixes his defence. Bring on 2018!

Certainly not short of points in that backline. The defence on the edges will be the concern for me.

Add fonua to the list. Finally have players competing for a spot in the 17 each week, which can only be a good thing.

At first I look at this backline and go YES… then i think about it and get disappointed. Reynolds is great. Brooks hopefully can do a good enough job.... But everyone esle but Rona and Nofo is almost a Junior there.

Hopefully they will GEL, they will get their act together in offense and Defense. If they stay together we could have an awesome back row combo. Yet your two "mentors" are Rona and Nofo. Reynolds will be great as long as brooks gives him good ball and he can probably help the guys too with combo's.

It is probably the best backline we can field. But I am tempering my expectations. I HOPE I am wrong, but I fear we won't get solid for at least a year with this combo.

Mate that is a lethal backline. Two 100kg centres with skill, 2 lethal wingers and a fullback that could be anything. Itl take 4-6 rounds. After that watch the points flow.

Good to see us signing a number of quality outside backs. If all these rumours are true we will have a decent backline and depth to cover lack of form and injury. Should improve the club as a whole.

Really need to get some more forwards to keep the heat on up front. Hopefully Ivan tests out the young guys this year and sees who is up to it and we can slowly ease a few guys into and let them get some experience before going back to state cup and building on it.
