I don't like front or back loading. The benefit quickly becomes a disadvantage. Okay, fine if it's for a small percentage of the contract, but no for large chunks.

This is okay:
Year 1: 500
Year 2: 350
Year 3: 350

Not Okay:
Year 1: 700
Year 2: 250
Year 3: 250

The only way it really should be used is if there is a player on a large sum who is due to retire/leave at a certain date, in which case utilising their cap space for future periods is acceptable. Requires planning though. :roll

Can you please explain what's wrong with:
Year 1: 700
Year 2: 250
Year 3: 250

Player X plays year one, receives the $700k and asks for early release to join another club.

Also bad news the other way around where player X is recieves $200k year 1 and is promised $700k in year 2 and gets pushed into leaving by the club.

I think this is one of the major issues Robbie and Benji had with the club. **_Both players took unders and were promised more in backended contracts but were told to look around effectively being pushed out without receiving all the contract money promised._**

:unamused: really!, I must have been asleep while that was happening :roll

Farah has been getting every dollar and continues to do so this season. It would seem that our loooooooong departed CEO and Grange giving director may have also verbally agreed a further contract for Marshall, but nothing official and he swapped codes anyhow, so it is what it is.

Manly winger looking for new home. Cleary chasing him,

http://www.5thtackle.com/manly-winger-looking-for-new-home-in-2017/

One of Manly's best young forwards, BIlly Bainbridge, playing off the interchange in U20s? Also Manly fans talking up Paseka as a possible NRL player.

That site (5th tackle) is horribly unreliable…

Same website suggests souths are trying to move Robbie Farah on. What do you think BBF, a possible depth signing on 150k per year?

Tafua is terrible under the high ball and looks a lot slower even prior to this years injury.

I would look for other outside backs with more upside: Gela-Moseby, George Jennings, Honeti Tuha, Izaac Thompson

I don't think we need wingers Nofa, MWZ, Fonua, Thompson are enough. If we sign another winger it has to be a gun player. Rona would be ideal but otherwise we need another prop and edge back rower.

If we look at the squad across two grades however, I think we still do need to sign another back:utility back:

For eg (not saying these would be the lineups per se)
NRL
1\. LoLo
2\. Nofa
3\. Suli
4\. Marsters (may be shifted to back row?)
5\. Fonua

ISP
1\. ?
2\. Thompson
3\. Milne
4\. MWZ
5\. ?

So I still think we need to sign at least another coupld of backs. Hoping Rona joins. Current squad members Heleta, Naqaima, Hunt etc are still unsigned for next year I believe.

This rates with the Benji revival. How bout we get Junior Pearce for 100k or better still, Mike Maketo. He'd be a good depth signing.

I agree We need 2 more backs if we get Roberts and Rona we are set.

Don't worry about the Jorge Taufua rumour, its from the worst rumour column in the country 5th tackle .. it's total crap in the highest order. I think its written by a 10 yr old .. no wait, a 10 yr old would no more than the 5th tackle writer.

Not really sure if need more backs
NRL
1\. Lolo
2\. Nofa
3\. Suli
4\. Milne
5\. Fonua
Marsters could be the utility bench player as he can play in the backs and forwards

ISP
1\. Gamble
2\. Thompson
3\. MCK
4\. Naiqama
5\. MWZ

I thought Bainbridge playing off the interchange was the more interesting story. Isn't his contract up this year and wasn't he considered one of the Eagles' rising second row stars? Our recruitment officer would probably still have close links with Manly?

Naqaima not yet signed and highly doubt we have signed gamble to play fullback, he is the only backup half we have on the books currently. We also need to sign another half and another hooker in my opinion.

Not sure if it's been on here yet but sounds like we have signed Sam McIntyre from Knights U20's too. Only rumour at this stage. Another center winger
