Yeah , but if your not confident / comfortable playing a position it makes it hard to perform to your optimum , especially when you are under pressure

You wouldn't want Tim Grant playing in the halves would you ??

There is a big difference in signing on fees.

E.g. Wingers only get half the amount of Full Backs.

Sign on as winger - get picked as a FB and get rorted.

Yes but wingers get paid more than reserve grade. Also if you do well enough you will get an upgrade. Thompson is a great example.

Signed on for min contract, worked hard for a pre season and rd 3 got an upgraded contract.

introducing this younger players like Oliver Clarke and Meaney into a team with a strong forward pack and experienced backs like Benji is a good strategy. I like our buying of players on the cusp of the NRL.

If we have signed Meaney or a player like that and Cleary sees him as our fullback then that really opens it up to have a crack at a damaging prop.

We are assuming most of the remaining salary cap might go on the fullback. A cheap fullback changes things.

If we get Jai Field or Meaney that’s big

Would leave us with huge money to buy other players

Nathan Cleary comes to mine

One thing Cleary cannot be accused of is paying "overs" for players. Meaney could be a good option if he's the player eddie is alluding to.

Field doesn't have the build for first grade in my opinion.

A lot of young 20 year old backs don’t have the build that’s what pre seasons are for.

They were saying that of Dufty too. Maybe long-term you are right.

I can see field taking down someone like Founa unless field gets him by the legs and that carries some risk.

Agree - but he is still (and I guess) getting peanuts compared to most NRL Full backs. Probably on par with half the Nrl wingers.

Biography: St George Illawarra utility Jai Field made his NRL debut for the Dragons in the opening round of the 2017 Telstra Premiership season.

Field agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension that will see him remain at the Dragons until at least the end of the 2019 season.

Let's hope Eddie is talking about meaney. Just been doing a bit of research. He's apparently the fastest at the knights over 40mts. We could do with a bit of speed. Looks like he has great ball playing skills too.

The young guys have to grow into their bodies remember Benji took about 3 years to stand upto the rigors of first grade

I think liddle is currently at that stage aswell and needs 1 more preseason before we see him at his best
