Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

From the rumours I've read, the situation appears to be like this… From 2017 to 2020, MBye was on $3m over 4 years at the Dogs, but the contract was backended. So not $750k a year, maybe something like per year $600k, then $800k, $800k, then $800k. That's why our offer for three years (something like $500 a year, so $1.5m over three) almost matches his next two years at the Dogs ($1.6m over two).

If we get him, at him taking less, we know we have something special, as the thought of someone taking LESS to come to the Tigers is mind-blowing, and will do wonders for our recruitment.

Taking a closer look at Brian Kelly tonight. Good first half from him. Has been battered a couple of times through hospital passes, but i can see why Ivan signed him. His head is in the game at all times, always pushing up in the right spot either looking for the ball, defending or attempting to shut down a kick. Nice to have a Koori fella on board too.

The player doesn’t get less, he gets what he is owed contractually. He is just being paid by two clubs until his contract expires

He might get less. He is only owed contractually if he plays pursuant to his contract. He won't be playing for them so what he gets paid by the Bulldogs will be determined by the terms of the release he negotiates, which will be a new contract between the parties…

Or the dogs have relented and are chipping in

I think he might be on 900k next two years but who knows. Your right though we will get him cheaper. 650k maybe which isn't bad for fullback.

Not confirmed that I've seen, but I think he sounds good. Maybe not a world beater, but we lost three centres recently, two in the last five months, we need at least one backup and one genuine contender at least.

Looking good, and just scored a great try

According to this mbye is on his way. 500k a year

500K… Alright.

600K... Pass.

Ok, I don't rate him. Canterbury have basically sucked since punting Trent Hodkinson. Normally I would say recruit past halves partners because then you have a good combo to work with. But the Reynolds/Mbye combo was the worst half combo Canterbury has had that I can remember. I only think it fired when there was Trent, Josh and Moses (and maybe Ben too). 500K is worth the punt. He is going to want more though in the next few years and I don't want us to commit to that unless Mbye proves it on the field.

Looks like we'll snag a couple good players.

I have a few more signing options for our forward pack.

Tevita Pangai Junior
Korbin Sims
Ethan Lowe

Any of those 3 would be good, even better all 3 of them.

At the start of the year nobody would have paid 500k for him but he's gone ok with a position change. I can see Ivan's got undenying scruples and poker face to match if rumors we hear are true.
