Gamble, hah. I love that 'oh this player is, okay! He could maybe be good!' 'he has lots of potential!' 'he isn't bad, he could come good with a full season or two in the top grade!'

These players mostly become nothing.

Potential can kiss my ass, I don't give a s*** about players potential anymore hah. I want to see talent with immediate results. Give him a run in the trials, sure, if he doesn't look like a star then I don't want to see these 'potential' players play again this year unless injury.

Might sound harsh but considering the percentage rate of 'potential' players becoming close to how some people on forums rating, i think it's fair. NFL, NBA would be the same, you have to kill it straight away in any chance you get, trial or off the bench from injury.

Gamble sucks

Pretty surprised by the hate for Benji. He's nowhere near the player he was but i'm not sure we have much better. **Reynolds didn't exactly shoot the lights out** when he played any significant minutes and Gamble's debut was painful to watch.

The harsh reality is that we didn't win a game last year when Benji wasn't 5/8… We were 12-9 when he played...

Not sure I agree. JR added spark to our attack in the few games he played - that is, he made a positive contribution in each of his (few) appearances. This makes me think that if he played a full season (a big if I know) we would be much more competitive than this year.

Gamble sucks

I remember pre-season last year some individual who shall remain nameless stated Tyson Gamble was a ready made replacement for Brooks who in their opinion was on his last chance in 2018.

It's entertaining if nothing else.

I saw his first grade game and I don't think he should play ever again.

Struggler even at ISC level.

You do realise that once upon a time every single player in the nrl was a youngster with potential, right?
You do need a few of these players in your squad, that's how you manage the cap. You've just got to be thorough and try and recruit and retain the players that will kick on. That's where we've struggled for a long time. Our juniors look the strongest they've been for a while though so hopefully they will change over the coming years

You should go and study up on the Storm and Roosters. They do this exact same thing.

Perhaps debuting a player when the whole team gives up isnt something those clubs ever have to imagine. Perhaps just perhaps their systems are better than ours and their potential actually eventuates.

If we dont have potential we have no future. the whole game is about potential. its Maguires job to turn those potential players into good players.

Good post, can always rely on you for a bit of common sense.

Alright guys, I've had to delete about a dozen posts because one peanut decided to swear and a bunch of users decided to quote him. Here's a tip for next time - don't - because your typing for nothing and you can expect your post to be deleted. For the initial post containing swearing - expect a warning. I can't be any clearer than that and there is a sticky regarding swearing on here - it won't be tolerated.

I like the idea of Coen Hess a lot

Brooks and Hess could be a very dangerous combo!

If cowboys have another poor season and if he doesn’t improve too much I’m sure he’d be very gettable

Benji was solid for us last year, he was more of a leader than those more fancied. Gamble is no where near first grade standard. The hate at times on some of players is rubbish and people just wanting to bag for the sake of it.

Without Benji this year we would of been trying to avoid the Spoon.

Yeah, him and his third tackle kicks were really helpful. An uninjured JR would have seen us make the eight.

In fairness though, Benji was very good the first couple of weeks but it really derailed from there.

If we have to rely on Reynolds to get us in the eight, we can feel free to go ahead and book our holidays for The weeks after the the last round then.
we won’t be doing much else. 😄

I think you missed one
