I would like to think McQueen will be a lot better this year with a good off season under his belt & a bit of confidence, maybe we can show the bloke a bit of support, he certainly adds depth

what a ridiculous statement.

Not nearly as ridiculous as claiming Lawrence has always been an average player, even pre-hip injury.

Far more ridiculous!!!
If there was a show called Ridiculousness then this post would be on it.

PS. I acknowledged that pre injury he wasn’t average. Fair go GNR

Ivan's roster management was a bit poor during his tenure. He did a lot of good in his short stint, but our current roster is a little out of wack. We only have 2 recognised hookers in our 30, we have 8 second rowers in Rowdy, MCK, Richie, Garner, McQueen, ET, Matterson and McIntyre. Who the hell needs 8 second rowers? Compare that to our back 5 and we only have 7 players with Mbye, Momo, Nofa, Mahe, Esan, Corey and Dylan Smith.

What was Ivan smoking?

One less team for penrith to compete with

Nonsense.
No one externally knows how his neck is. You don't know, I don't know.
He is on 400K? a season. We would be lucky to punt him for 120K based of current form.
I would take the gamble unless we badly need the spot or someone offers overs.

He will either return to past form, sure maybe not 400K worth but close too.
OR he won't, I don't think anyone has made an offer for him.

Happy to trade, but I don't think we have received any offers or swaps. We definitely should not trade him for cheap value with us carrying the load!

So lets put him to the field. Lets make him go out there. I want to see the guy wearing the Jersey or submitting a medical retirement. He is back with McGuire who knows him well, Lets see him perform or retire.
Lets get our full money value.

wow. just wow.

Are you getting me?

We signed McQueen on a big contract for 3 years. I heard 400K at the time.
That, was a huge mistake with his neck injury (unsure if this was known on signing, or it occurred after. ).

Now, McQueen is not worth much at all. He would be lucky to get a 100K contract on current form, so if he signs elsewhere we pay the difference. Aka $300K to the Storm or bulldogs or whoever has the room to take him.

Far better too:
Medically retire him. Freeing up his contracted value from our cap.
Have him gain form. We see him return to the form close too what we signed for.

Does this suck? YES!
But we need to push him. If he can't play, we need to push him to Medically retire. If he can play, we need to push him to get our dollar value out of him.
The other alternatives are to accept chicken feed or have a 400K paperweight in reserves.

McQueen is garbage, baggage and a complete boat anchor

Another crap signing by a team making crap signings an artform.

Benjii and Robbie collecting their pensions.

Ivan is laughing.

The social media rumour in regards to an outside back is James Roberts. Even though there is mutal interest, i wouldn't read to much into it. Roberts has been looking for a way out since it became clear Bennett would no longer be around.

However, people close to Roberts don't want him back in Sydney due to this issues it has caused in the past. Also, Brisbane do not want to release him as he is on a fairly cheap deal for an origin player. If they did let him go, it is more likely he would end up at the Gold Coast.

Mail on Hess is off as far as i'm aware.

Good source OR good feel guess?

Baze has had good info in the past.

Shame. I would have liked to have seen either Hess or Roberts in Tigers colours

And immediately post hip injury he was in career best form, culminating with playing for Australia.

Actually he was not in good form Sheens got a lot of flack for picking him. Before his injury he was an excellent back after that he was a shadow of himself with poor lateral movement. The only thing i will credit JT for was moving him to the backrow something which should have happened years earlier. He has been our best back row forward since Ellis left

IMHO, he was pretty terrible at that time. But Australia were short some good centres and Sheens was coach.

It was a fair while ago but I thought he had at least a few games where he looked dangerous at the back end of 2011 (post-injury). He certainly stunk it up at centre from 2012 onwards.

Had his hip gone straight back in, he’d have probably made a full recovery and that injury would have been a blip. As it was, it didn’t go straight back in and they had to sedate him. It was a tragedy. All that talent gone to waste. Least he’s found his niche now which has been great to see.

When you say 'medically retire', are you assuming an insurance company is going to roll over and payout his contract? That's not how it works.

Would be happy with Johnston but not sure who I would rather, him or Walker.

No to Johnstone, he wants to play fullback, we have Mbye, the sharks will most likely take him anyway, hopefully we are just making the sharks pay more

Sounds made up. Johnston getting shopped + Maguire being an ex coach of his = rumour.

We don't need Johnston, we need a centre. He doesn't need us either. He wants to go somewhere where he has some prospect of getting the #1 jersey and that's not here. If he leaves Souths it'll be for Cronulla or Canberra I'd imagine.

We don't need Johnson. He's a good winger but I want a centre first. Johnson is a terrible fullback and its a joke that he wants to only play fullback. South's won't win a premiership with Johnson at fullback.

Mbye looks a better fullback than Johnston and that lineup just wastes a bench spot. Pass.
