Kurt Mann would definitely be worth a look. He is a great squad player. can cover, Fullback, Centre, Wing and 5/8\. I think the Knights were even looking at him to be a bench hooker/utility.

Dont tell the telegraph but he might have an association with Maguire from the Storm days?

Knights forum suggesting he's being looked at as a 9 for them. Provides good utility as you've mentioned.

I did read the Dragons wanted to do a swap with Mann to the Knights and SKD to the Dragons. Apparently SKD and the Knights weren't interested.

The Newcastle Knights have rejected the St George Illawarra Dragons offer to swap Shaun Kenny-Dowall and Kurt Mann, as reported by The Newcastle Herald.

I would of accepted the offer, would of moved Edrick Lee into first grade on the wing and Kurt Mann could of been a solid depth centre. Kenny-Dowall is 30 now and Lee could of added some more pace to their backline.

Lee will already get a start on the wing. As it stands they'll probably be:

1\. Watson/Ponga
2\. Lee
3\. Ramien
4\. Moga
5\. SKD
6\. Ponga/Watson
7\. Pearce

If Moga is still injured Hymel Hunt or Nathan Ross will come into the centres.

That’s a good backline

And to have Hymel Hunt and the Ross Dog as backups just adds to it, great depth. Too bad we can't have depth like that, all we have for backup in the centres is Momorovski.

Im glad we dont have that backline.

Its an ok backline but its hardly clutch. Almost all of them have massive question marks on them when under pressure.

Take Ponga out and they are average.

Its a no for me.

Read that too.. Dragons said no apparently.

I agree with others that this thread is particularly frustrating and, at times, tedious while at the same time strangely adictive….
To be honest, I would much rather a separate thread for each rumoured player, not this 1100 page marathon. Why do we have one gigantic thread and does anyone agree with me?

I always assumed this thread was for idle chit chat. You know - "why don't we go after [unrealistic prospect on giant contract at another club]", "my uncle cleans the bogs at [other club] and he reckons we're chasing [some guy]", "what does anyone reckon about [16 year old who plays juniors with my nephew]".

They get their own thread when there's something tangible. Like Curtis Rona. ?

Game changer!

I agree. I thought after there last wooden spoon they had a lot of good young players come up. I though adding 2-3 big names would change their outlook. I think they have gone the other way. There whole back line is now made up of imported players. They wouldn't get Newcastle like the locals. Just think they will miss the 8 again.

Question marks maybe.
Doesn’t say much for our back seven.

At least they have speed, height and X factor.

If you think that they have a better backline than us, then you are a really bad judge.

Their backline is far better than ours. Bigger, faster, stronger, and just as error prone as our boys

If SKD, Moga or Lee were signed by this club the forum would go into meltdown.

They are average players who make basic errors.

SKD I would not be interested in. Moga can be a devastating centre although his career could unfortunately end any day - one more knee and its over. Lee has been terrible in the past but just had a good, consistent season at Cronulla.

It’s definitely (in my view) a back line with a higher ceiling than ours but it could all fall apart with injury or the kind of inconsistency some of those guys have shown in the past.

Pongha and Pearce are both quality players Ramien has all the attributes, and the only thing holding Moga back is some horrific injuries, and now they have Hunt as a back up - the others all good first grade players.
I think they have put together a very talented backline - youth, experience, and a superstar.

Lack of speed, and height in our outside backs, along with no real goal kicker will bites us in 2019\. When your a boarder line top eight side you can not afford to be dropping games because of poor goal kicking. Anyway so far we have not addressed these issues and with one spot left, it’s hard to see things getting fixed

i don't think we will be getting any more signings for a while… considering how long the zane musgrove one took.....and when it did happen, all hell broke loose and the forum crashed

I’ll cop that, that’s your opinion after all.
There is a lot of talk about having size and speed lacking in our backline.
As opposed to our back seven they are in front taking that into consideration.

I agree that height is definitely an advantage in the backs - that’s why I couldn’t understand everyone banging-on about getting Tyrone Peachey (ball boy size).

I am sure we will see a few more before Xmas due to salary cap pressures on a few clubs
