All this complaining about our recruitment. We’ve done pretty well lately with Mbye and Matterson. Some of you just want it all.

Agreed….Also Knights had to offer a five year deal to Klemmer and a ton of cash. Five year deals can kill a club

I prefer our signings to Klemmer for sure. Ponga is a different matter. We should have chased him hard but I bet we thought we would hang onto the Big 4 instead.

I get the argument for going for marquee players. You need to though pick the right player to hand over a trunkload of cash too. There aren't many of them out there and props just aren't worth top dollars.

It’s easy to regret not showing interest in Ponga in retrospect. We were going all in on Tedesco, which at the time was the obvious thing to do.

Think recruitment will be much better next year.

With an overflooded sydney market the weaker teams struggle but I think we building for next year. Good coach, finances and management will start paying dividends.

Got to remember it's a easier sale to say we will increase your salary and you get to live in the coast.

No I don’t want it all. Would just like to support a team who doesn’t have the lowest number of finals appearances in the last 10 years

Nearly 20yrs I think

So i wonder if we have learnt anything and might put a line in the sand for Luke Brooks.

If his manager wants to go over the line we sign Shaun Johnson for the same money.

I heard Reynolds talking about how he wouldn't mind going to the Super League because he's getting a bit older and he's more injury prone now, and how there's a good atmosphere there and how he understands how a lot of players go there to end their careers. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea if we released Reynolds to the Super League that way we could make way for Johnson.

Sheesh! Give a guy a chance …... he is quality signining.

I think the issue that seems to be key is what is our actual ability to recruit top line talent?
We have good depth and a good squad can we sign rep level players to go the next level until we can develop the next crop of stars.
Can the Club be developed to retain these players. It’s been our problem for years.

Then you should want them to manage the cap responsibly. If they are not chasing Klemmer or any other marquee player, it’s not because they would rather target a Musgrove type player cos they think he is a better player, it’s because they are being selective. They don’t want to blow cash on a player we don’t really need when 12 months down the line, a player we do need pops up. The last 2 big names we were linked to we signed (Matterson and Mbye). That tells me we are in a better position than many think to attract players, especially when Matterson chose us over the Sharks.

Got to agree both ways here.
I dont think finals is too much to ask for, and I don’t think impulse buying is healthy either.
I think our club is starting to show balance.
2019 is looking good, I reckon we’ll make the eight next year….....a 7th place prediction.

Any further word on Dylan Walker ??

Brooks announcement next….

Tigerap you say like there is something after the Brooks announcement…

I for one am pretty happy honestly. I think the 3 players we recruited are very good buys for prob not very much salary. They fit the positions we needed anyway. We definitely have a 6-10 position team. Just feel 1-2 more signings would put us up to that 6th position.

Doesn’t look like Hess is going anywhere, sorry Geo.

https://www.nrl.com/news/2018/11/26/hungry-hess-insists-there-are-no-excuses-for-cowboys-in-2019/

Damn..we thought we had him

We think you should stop speaking on we's behalf OK

Unless you are speaking about all your different identity's

In that case , go ahead

Just ignore what I write next Geo OK

(Hobbo , Geo need his padded cell back please )

Could the reason we didn't sign any of the mentioned props that came up be because a certain coach knew he was going back to Penrith far earlier than we all did …...

If as the O.P says Reynolds is talking about it, its a fair question. If its not, we should at least give Reynolds the upcoming season to prove he is back.

Mind you if he has still got dodgy body another season of continued unreliability would severly affect his earnings if he then did want to go the ESL for his final hurrah…...............................

Thats a bit unfair. It would only be a reasonable suspicion of they were either existing Penrith players or this signed for Penrith for 2019 or 2020 onwards.

We signed Clarke from Penrith …..

Nothing personal against Clarke , but I had heard very little if anything about this bloke killing it in NSW Cup or killing since he arrived

And we will continue to hear very little about him….I.C. signed him with the sole objective to relieve some CAP space for the Panthers,
