Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

re Jennings.
He would be a great signing. Were missing a good ball playing Center with Marsters a defensive Center and Fonua inconsistent with Paul M Untested. But we can leave that open and see who steps up.

We have Mbye, Thompson and Nofo who can do Wing/Fullback. Perhaps Fonua can do wing as well (seems to be better as a center). Adding Jennings gives the backline Depth and would allow either Thompson or Mbye to be that off the bench/utility player.

My preference, put Jennings on the wing, move Thompson to Fullback and see if Parra will pay overs for Mbye! (Ok I don't like Mbye. No idea why we chased him hard and not Hopoate? Yet he hasn't stuffed up yet).

You don't like Mbye - Play Thompson full back - that'll do me!

X2…..Mbye is our best option at one by the length of the straight

Agreeing to give a guy a job after he retires playing NRL. Didn't know that was an offence.
Why can teams sign players for years in advance and nothing from the NRL is said about it.
Fair enough if Robbie is still playing then we give him another job paying that much money, then I would see an issue.
But if the guy is no longer taking the field, who is it hurting???

The question is, from which account is the money to pay for Robbie's new job coming from?

I agree… We should also move Brooks to the bench and sign Santa Clause to play HB.

How are the nrl going to police this ongoing? Basically any club that hires a recently retired player could be perceived as cheating. Some moron at our club has obviously put it in writing…,

Who are all of our props? I honestly don’t usually care about who other teams recruit etc but looking at teams like the Knights and GC Titans, even they seem to have some great depth in that department.
Knights have Klemmer, the Saifitis, Glasby, Gavet, Ese Ese, King & Sami. Then the Titans have Stockwell, Whitbread, Wallace, Latu, Boyle, Fotuaika, James & Boyd.

Props we have Packer, Matulino, Twal, Eisenhuth, Clark, Mikaele and Musgrove
second row, Lawrence, Matterson, Taylor, Garner, McQueen, Rochow, Aloiai and Mcintyre

Can anyone explain these figures to me?

Norman – who had one year to run on his Eels contract worth around $900,000 – farewelled the Parramatta players last week but his St George Illawarra move was prolonged because of a disagreement over a payout.

The 27-year-old wanted an extra $20,000 and threatened to stay on at Parramatta until hisIt appears Norman won't get the money he was chasing, however, with the Eels refusing to provide a cent more than $250,000 towards his Dragons contract in 2019.

The Telegraph claims the Dragons will pay Norman $500,000 next season alongside Parramatta's quarter-million dollar contribution, meaning Norman is on significantly less coin than he would have received at Parramatta.

The Saints will then fork out $1.6 million over the final two years of Norman's deal. next pay cycle on January 4 to claim the additional funds before moving on.

Has Norman taken a pay cut for the Saint George deal to be legit?
He still stands to earn close to $800,000 a season for the next 3 years.

I see a lot of backrowers and not a lot of props.

Great post Lauren.

We are lacking and it will impact our season.. One injury and we are in trouble.

Our priority is two big and fast outside backs. We have none and cannot go into next season without them.

Melb got stripped of premierships didn't they? Sharks are gonna have their coach suspended again aswell.
We cheated, got caught, will cop a punishment like the others did.

How did we cheat - unless there is evidence that Farah accepted the role in exchange for a reduced amount to play then no wrong doing has occurred. Wests are saying Farah never accepted the offer and therefore there was nothing to declare. When he went to Souths he was paid his full contract amount which would suggest what Wests are saying is correct. So either Wests are lying and there is evidence he accepted or the NRL are trying to show everyone how tough they are with no shred of evidence.

I guess if we didn't cheat we'll see them in court and there's nothing to worry about.

But if this was another club we'd be calling them cheats.

Yeah i disagree with that.

I think you may be sleeping on Momirovski.

The backline is set. Its lacks some speed and a bit of size but its solid. I wouldnt rule out some positional changes and development players improving the depth dramatically as well.

A prop however can not be manufactured and is either a meat eater or he is not.

Definitely lacking in the prop department, especially if Musgrove is cut loose. One or two injuries and it's slim pickings.

Realistically, we only have one prop: Twal, and if we are lucky Mikaele.

Matulino, Eisenhuth and Packer run fantastic 2 ft on their best games, Clark did not show anything in ISP last year, and Musgrove ?? we still do not know if he will be de-registered by NRL.

We still need at least 2 props :deadhorse:

Packer
Mataulino
Mikaele
Twal

Eisenhuth and Aloiai could even do a game or 2 up front.
There’s 4 starters and 2 quality back ups in my opinion.

Lawrence
Matterson
Garner
Taylor
Eisenhuth
Aloiai in the middle
I think we’re looking good.
