@Spud_Murphy we already signed him 3 years ago and let him go straight away.

Huh? What happened?

Pretty sure we signed him when Taylor was coach only for us to get rid of him and pay him to play at the eels.

No we never paid for him to play at the Eels.

I'm curious, how much do people think we should offer Papenhuyzen to try and return him home?

I am fairly sure that Papenhuyzen lived in Concord and was at Concord High School when he was voted Inner Wests Young sportsman of the year at around 17 years old.

Went to Oakhill College and played some with the Dundas Shamrocks.

@TSupps05
I’d have nofo, thommo, momo n Jenko fight out one wing spot with a new elite winger on the other side(someone of a rapana, fergo build)
Liddle to 9 with Reynolds or Taylor on the bench
Mats or packer or Even Burgess whoever finds form at 8 with Twal at 10...meaning aloiai on the bench he is a fanatic impact player

1. Small papi
2. Thommo, momo, nofo, jenko
3. Mbye
4.Masters
5.rapana
6.Brooks
7.Benji
8.Mats,Packer, Burgess
9.Liddle
10.twal
11.Matterson
12.Garner
13.Arrow

14.Reyolds or ET Orr one of the big boppers who don’t make starting prop if liddle can play the 80
15.Mikaele
16.Aloiai
17.MCK

@balmain-boy Mate we cannot even attract a Tim Mannah type of guy let alone a quality player. I said we should take a risk and get him and for that to happen the money needs to be big otherwise we have NO chance.. The positive about him is he has already proven he can play at NRL level even though its only been a short time. I don't think he is a 700k player yet but we are desperate need for a game changer and he fits that bill.

@hsvjones
In order to splurge on playing like paps or even the arrow bid we will need to remove players on big money such as reyolds, packer, Mbye, McQueen

If Benji doesn't end up playing next year I would play Talau at five-eight, played all his junior years there and also played abit of lock. If Benji does play on, then id play him at centre next year.

@The_Patriot I really want to see Masters moved into the forwards. Our season is effectively done so Madge needs to experiment. Momo was average on the weekend, but so was the whole team (most who have a lot more NRL experience too). Give Momo a few games to build confidence in the centre's. Masters is done in the backs, he's been ineffective and looks alot slower than most other centre's in the game, so into the pack for me. We need to try something new with squad we've got as it looks like no one is going anywhere. Even put Reynolds into centre's so we can get some value for money.

I agree we need to try something. These guys arent firing.

@Jimmy I understand that.. We were asked what we thought we would have to pay for him to join us and thats how this started. I really don't see us getting any quality players for a few years anyway but we all have dreams.. I would be very surprised if any clubs take any of these players off us as they know we are desperate we are and would want us to pay most of there salary..

@balmain-boy I don’t know how old you are , when you are my age I will can give you some indication about Pap your mate .
When you play with a star studded team it does not take much to look the goods theses players put you into half breaks which in turn with speed you look great .
Now fast forward to the Tigers no one puts you into half breaks you have to do this yourself . This Pap is fast I watched him the other day but reality tells me with decades of watching this game there has been countless players in top class teams that come to
mediocre teams and do not look good at all . You are very enthusiastic about the younger talent which for me I like reading about them , just though I would say what I have seen over many years with players in the situation young Pap is , he is certainly worth a look at but the dollar value you put on him is massive overs .. he has to prove first he can have the goods with a side like the Tigers .

Only had to witness how hard it was for Tedesco to play good, consistent footy with us to know this is the truth. He rose above to prove his worth for the most part, but he is now 10 times the player in a star studded team compared to what he was when he was with us.

Great players will always thrive in a better team.
More opportunities.
More chances to excel.
Just look back at Terry Lamb - played so well in his one season for Wests then had a stellar career with the Entertainers(of that day) at Canterbury, or Johnny Raper, a champion already in his Newtown days before he reached Immortal heights with St George.
And the list goes on as history proves.

Who cares? We are the WTs not the Roosters. What is it with the defeatist attitudes espoused in these posts? No wonder the club is in the doldrums with supporters having attitudes like these. I don't subscribe to it and believe if Papenhuyzen came back he would be among a host of talented young stars as well as seasoned professionals.

from foxsports...

If Rapana commits to the Raiders, the club may face a difficult task in juggling their salary cap next year with 10 players — including high-profile stars Leilua, Nicoll-Klokstad and Cotric — out of contract.

Any chance our new GM brought the roosters accountant with him... Wouldn't mind all three of these players. (Dreaming I know)

Leilua could be a realistic purchase.
