Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Getting off this subject for a moment ........ I really really liked what I saw in last nights game from young Panthers players Burton and Martin, they really have couple of good ones there.

No wife great life? I disagree unless of corse your statement is meant as joke😂 butnyeah no wife for me means lonely life if anything

See the LOL.

We need to raid the Dragons lower grades. They have some serious guns sitting in reserve grade because of McGregor's incompetence.
- Tristan Sailor (Winger/Centre) is highly spoken of as a potential big thing. Can kick goals.
- Lachlan Timm (Prop) is dominating every important stat in NSW Cup for a front row forward.
- Jackson Ford (Second Rower) is a stat machine on the edge.
- Jai Field (Five-eighth/Fullback) is a very talented player who has huge upside. Is a little small, but has serious speed and ball skills. Can kick goals.

All of them, with the exception of Ford, are off contract. The only issue is we probably wouldn't be able to *guarantee* a spot for them in first grade. If you told them now, "sign for us, we guarantee you a spot in round 1", they'd probably sign straight away.

Personally I think Sailor and Field would be good signings. The signing of another winger/centre could force the hand of Robert Jennings to request a release so he can play first grade. Field is very raw, but with the right coaching could be a top NRL player. Both of them kick goals which would solve a problem for us.

Listening to Dell on Triple M today it was obvious that he is not happy with how Tristan is being used at the Dragons, so he may be a chance to get!

Tristin Sailor comes with huge baggage - his dad!!

I mean we are only 3 players outta being a real contender imo
Big prop that can bend the line
Gun 2nd rower thag can also bend the line
Either a 5/8 FB or centre
Benji retires we can either straight out buy a replacement if the market doesn’t warrant we look at placing Mbye in the halves searching for a centre if that doesn’t warent momo centres Thompson wing we look for a fb...it would by ideal if this 5/8.centre.FB could GK

@Jimmy I don't agree. We need a fast fullback, two really quick wingers and a quick centre, two second row forwards and a prop.

Yep I agree. That’s a half new team which is definitely required.

Mate that's a knock-down-rebuild, totally non-constructive. We need to be realistic about the players we can add to the roster piece-by-piece. Already been proven that a complete roster overhaul by a single coach with a specific opinion is as risky as any other strategy.

So if we had unlimited funds and the pick of any players in the NRL, then sure, we need a fast ball-playing fullback, 2 really quick monster wingers, a quick centre, two Origin-class backrowers and a bullocking prop. Might as well throw in a clinical pressure-absorbing goal-kicking halfback if you are going window shopping like that.

Easy as Tedesco, Maumolo, Addo-Carr, Latrell, Frizell, Arrow, Klemmer - can't wait til they all arrive!

@jirskyr I don't disagree it is a rebuild. The Club may want to fool itself but you can't fool the competition table. Until these areas are addressed, we will continue to lag outside of the 8. In the past, we could have gone to our juniors but we allowed our X Factor players to leave (I am not including Tedesco) and there are very few options. There has been an immense failure in retention and our junior recruitment needs to improve again above the very good results from last year. In addition, I am not sure Maguire has the nous to promote youth and accept a few hidngs while they learn.

That's what we should be doing, giving the youngsters a go, not hanging on to players who were good in 2008

Replacing 7 out of 17 footballers as you mention, is a rebuild, there's no other way to name it. You aren't suggesting we sign 1 average fullback, 2 decent wingers etc. Tigers have had no problem signing average players in all the positions you mention.

I'm all for promoting youth but you don't do it when the season is on the line, not unless you have to or the youth talent is absolutely top-tier team-improving. A few hidings is fine once the season is already over.

I was being kind, but there comes a time when you have to let go, if they don't want to go you don't offer them a contract and make them go

That is comedy gold right there, we can see it other clubs can do it, but no not the mighty weststigers, we will just keep doing the same thing over and over hoping for a different result, a very smart man once said that is the definition of insanity

And so many lap it up. I would guarantee that some would applaud signing Blake Ayshford. 'Name someone better at that price'

Whoever we buy can we make sure they have one thing.....................a football brain!!!!!!!

Because we are the dumbest football side by far.

We need a rebuild. Half our squad is rubbish that wouldn't even make the titans roster. We. Have. The. Poorest. Roster. In. The. League.

Each year we think adding a few new players unwanted at their clubs will solve everything. It doesn't. It's time to be brutal.
