Just to recap...

So far we have the following guys leaving our current 30 man NRL roster:
Rochow, Fonua, & Farah.
Also we have 2 guys reportedly wanting out - Matterson and Marsters. And Matulino needs to be medically retired.
This means 3 up to possibly 6 spots available. Is there anyone else (besides Marshall and Lawrence - I assume we will sort these 2 guys out with extensions) that is off contract??

As well, we would like to move some players on if possible - Packer, McQueen, Reynolds, possibly Mbye and Jennings (although I don't think these last 2 will go anywhere).

And finally, we are carrying 5-6 reggies players, as part of our 30 man NRL squad, who I can't see making the step up to regular NRL - Madden, Smith, Seyfarth, Puhotau, McIntyre and maybe Bradley.

With regards to the centre position....
As much as I like how Momo came on in the last few rounds, and there may be some potential in Talau, and Mbye is yet to show us he is a centre..... If we do lose Marsters we certainly need to recruit a quality centre. Otherwise I am not convinced that the depth that we have in this position is going to cut it.
P.S. I just read what I wrote and noticed I put the words "Marsters" and "quality centre" in the same sentence - not convinced about this either!

I find it strange that some people who were disappointed that we only signed Liddle for 2 years are saying they don't want Moylan as he's injury prone...

I was one of those Avo.

If people are saying Liddle is injury prone then so is "Punchable face Moylan".

Hopefully they are not the same people.

Moylan is on the park a lot more than Liddle is.

He is agreed - but he is also injury prone (if Liddle is - and I don't think he is).

Trouble is - I think he can't be helped, so I wouldn't touch him.


He’s a risk for sure Russ, but he’s no more injury prone than others we’ve signed (which was the point I was trying to make). Moylan is a complete ratbag but I think someone like Maguire might actually be able to get something out of him. He was good under Cleary and I think Maguire is a better coach than him. If Cronulla pay a chunk of his wage he’s worth the risk imo.

Do we want to take a risk that is the question.

You do - with a host of injured players Packer, Matulino, Reynolds (seems to have come good), McQueen and Liddle already hanging around I myself would not add another one + all the other reasons I highlighted earlier.

I’d assume that if we were going for Moylan we’d successfully found a home for some of those guys (I hope anyway)

Yep fg, a good start...and we are seemingly searching for a couple of other backs.

I noticed from the NRL site, a few off contract players that may also be worth a look - Tetavano (Roosters), Sorrensen (Sharks), Jai Field (Dragons).

I think it's looking more and more like he will be, especially following his form in those last few games and Jacob Liddle's injury.

It's an option, but more likely Reynolds and Walters with Liddle working his way back mid-season.
IMO, whilst Benji is fit, he can do stuff at 5/8 that Reynolds just can't.

So far I’ve read that we’re signing Moylan, Vunivalu, Vete, Lomax and Arrow and swapping Reynolds, Matterson, Packer & Marsters for Fafita, Milford and God forbid... Darius Boyd! I think everyone is on drugs ?

Walters is still the only one we’ve actually signed by the way....I think ?
