If he really believed that West's have 5 viable options for no.9, why bother discussing Kurt Baptiste internally. Is 6 hookers the key? Probably.

Pascoe is being curteous

That's one word.

Pascoe probably has the below thought on repeat as he replies to all the armchair recruitment managers:

Funny. I have the exact same though whenever i see some of his comments.

All this talk of Hastings having no talent
- He played NSW U16s, U18s, Australian School boys, Junior Kangaroos
- He debited for the Roosters at 18 the benchmark club in the comp playing 32 games in 2 years
- He has played and won an NRL semi at Halfback (unlike our current halfback)
- He played 1 year in UK Super League and won man of steel and made his debut for Great Britain
- At NRL Level he has kicked 29 goals from 35 attempts

He has had some problems with his attitude but they seems to be fixed - his talent imo has never been the issue

Totally respect your opinion. I’m not worried about his attitude or him being a bit different. When I’ve watched him in NRL he gets too involved, rushes everything, tries to do everything resulting in errors and poor decisions. Another way to explain would be to say he runs around like a headless chook!! He displays little spark at all. Not a fan at all

No pace at all so no spark. I can't believe in our pedestrian backline some are wanting to add another slow back.

Good thing our CEO has identified that we're chasing speed.

Problem is we can't catch it

It’s one thing for us to argue amongst ourselves on the forum, the best make up of the squad and who should play where. It’s another to tell people directly at the club what you think they should be doing, without any knowledge of the cap. Whose that guy think he is?

Good thing our CEO has identified that we're chasing speed.

In the Super League last year he topped the try assists with 36 - the next best was 22

All your quoting of his statistics has no point - what did he do in the NRL games?

Plenty of players are up for schoolboy games (NSW, Australia and Kangaroos) and then fade into oblivion.

He debuted at 18 - big deal, so have many players and there will be many more.

He may have won a semi - but I would not swap him for Brooks (no way).

As some would say on here Lolohea, Rankin etc. are playing ESL and they wouldn't want them back. ESL is a different kettle of fish to NRL.

As for Golden Boot - it is just political - Just like Slater winning "Man of the Series" at SOO.

Tell me about his great form for Great Britain in the recent series where they did not win a game (he played in all 4). He was pathetic!!!

Maybe we could use him as a goal kicker in the CC - if he could earn a spot, but I don't think so.

Slater at least was a class player and played well in the series. Poor comparison

That was me and it looks like that ill give you - i was actually replying to another tweet that had been a reply to the origional - the othwr tweet was talking about signing GGM from cowboys and Dany Levi but it shows up as that as Justins was the origional tweet in the thread.

Serious question guys..

I know we have struggled to sign quality players this off season for various reason and we have freed up a very good amount of money. My big concern is we are going to have even more money available next off season and unsure if we can attract the top line players unless we somehow make the 8. We also need to remember we have been talking all off season about recruiting top players for this coming season but have we been trying to recruit players for season 2021 as you are allowed to from Nov 1 last year E.g. Arrow to Souths for 2021.. (Not talking about Junior / development players as we have done excellent in this area 😱k_hand: )..

Who do we go after as I think we need to move early before other clubs take the cream off the top..

Thoughts on who we should target ??

I would think we need a top line fullback, replacement for Benji and if a top line forward comes up. I think we have some excellent younger players coming through so would not need a lot.

Because he has the political speak down pat

We have 4-5 candidates for the hooker spot

None are worth diddly squat and will be playing out of position ( bar the one who keeps getting injured ) , but they are candidates

That is the problem , we have been become so conditioned to mediocrity and believed so much garbage that has come from one CEO to the next and so on and so forth , and every coach from so on and so forth , and one chairperson to the next and so on and so forth

But the worst thing is this ...we tell them what we want ...one home ground ...competitive footy side ...a board that is not chosen to represent our past entities ...one that is chosen to use their respective strengths to help us move forward both on and off field

I don't support this club to see sound corporate governance ( don't get me wrong , it's nice to be breaking even ) but we need to start moving upwards on field and really it's starting to go backwards

Time flies. We got the independant board in 2014, Pascoe in 2015 and Wests took 75% ownership in 2016.
We should be well and truly seeing results by now.
As far as breaking even goes, did that coincide with the NRL grant increasing to 125% of the salary cap?

But the thing that gets me the most is you see posters on the Forum who obviously have a firm grasp of football and what is going on at the club constantly blame anyone and everyone bar the people they should be blaming .....the decision makers across the board at the club

Its almost like they think if they admit the club is at fault that they as supporters are at fault ..or they can't admit the club is at fault or that would be the beginning of the end as a supporter

Its almost like they think if they admit the club is at fault that they as supporters are at fault ..or they can't admit the club is at fault or that would be the beginning of the end as a supporter

There's certainly things the club can be doing better. However the club has been a total basket case virtually from inception so it's going to take more than a season or two to reverse that perception. We've started returning a profit which appears incredibly difficult for a Rugby League club to do (and is a pretty good achievement in a market where there are nine clubs in the Sydney Basin,) we have a premiership winning coach at the helm who appears to be identifying and future proofing talent (which will come in handy if the external perception remains in the meantime that we are a joke,) & whom has got an average, injury riddled roster to the cusp of finals, and we have had a hand in being able to secure a soon-to-be modern facility to base ourselves out of.

The coaching merry-go-round, board sniping, salary cap debacles and publicly prominent issues with players (contract issues, moving players on, lack of Gatorade,) have all seriously hurt us. You can't turn a business around overnight without the budget (and even then more often than not it is not a rapid process,) and the club does not have an endless budget to turn it around quickly.

I too am running out of patience (if I haven't already,) of the failure of on-field results to materialise after repeated reboots of coaching staff, CEO's and iterations of board structure, but due to damage of previous personnel a more pragmatic outlook is required. I believe we are moving forward but it is just taking time. I don't begrudge other fans for having no patience anymore, eight years without finals is absolutely unacceptable, but I don't totally adopt the train of thought that the club is always at fault purely because of previous gaffes.

Yes Justin ...those 4-5 options @ 9 measure up so well against the player they are replacing

Justin will be the member for Balmain next election ...he is so good a feeding the fungi

Explain why he would be a member for Balmain And not just a forum member like you?

But the worst thing is this ...we tell them what we want ...one home ground

Speak for yourself. I don't want 1 home ground if it means no games at Leichhardt.

As for the hooker role, I would definitely prefer to see an established hooker there but I imagine it's Maguire who makes the call of whether we can cover with what we have. The last thing I want is a CEO choosing the team for the coach.
