Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

While Nofo offers a lot in attack, we know that this side of his game is offset by occasional serious defensive flaws. Can't these defensive lapses be addressed by our coaching staff or is this a lost cause completely. As someone has already pointed out, but for his tries we would probably not have won our 2 games so far this year.

One of Nofos real defensive flaws was dropped this week(Benji) as that is where the cohesive defensive line starts to break down.I sincerely hope Grub does a better job at being in position and not run out of the line exposing his outside men.To descibe our RHS defence as weak and porous is giving it a rap.

2018 Jennings did finish third try scorer with 18 so not too bad for a "slug" as some on here make him out to be.
In relation to Nofo i have never questioned his attack and his metres he makes but to me it doesnt off set the defence that he leaks

I've mentioned this before on here, as you have brought it up again, I'll mention it again.

Out of the 18 tries he scored in 2018, there was I think only one occasion he had to beat his opposite winger.

All he had to do most of the time was walk a couple of metres and put the ball down.

He is not a wingers bootlace.

Hardly ever beats his man, not good under the high ball, does not go looking for work, hardly ever takes dirty hit ups, slow as a wet week, very average defender, cannot read a game well and has a very slack attitude.

Put all that together and you have what is widely known as "IMPOSTER."

That is giving him a wrap.

That’s why stats without context only ever paints a small picture, never the complete picture.

Nofo is the unluckiest player in the world. Always let down by everyone around him...

Not at all i am critical of him when he gets it wrong but he gets it wrong far less than you believe. He is by far our best winger he certainly has his faults (high balls mainly)but he does far more good things for the team than bad ones

That is true and untrue at the same time..teams are supposed to defend as a unit..Nofoaluma is part of that unit the end part...it is the same for all teams TRIES are scored on an edge the winger gets the blame...For example the Rorters ran 7 TRIES past the Broncos left edge the other week...was the winger responsible for all 7...Manly went there often last night and it held up for most part...

Still scored them Russell whatever way yo look at it he still scored them

There's a video of all of them on nrl.com. Only a few of them required any real skill or effort. It's the same kind of statistic that had people mentioning Andrew Everingham for origin and resulted in Nathan Merritt actually getting selected for origin...

I knew we should have signed Inglis to play inside Jennings..

He's on big money for a winger. He should already know how to defend. JAC makes defence look easy so do other quick wingers.

Is Nofa on more money than JAC? I think so. No wonder JAC wanted out and more money.

Please take this to the player opinions thread or something 😂 This argument goes around in circles. I’m more excited to see how Talau does than anything else.

Geo please dont use stats re benji sacking thats not fair 🙂
Remember Russell doesnt recognise stats such as Jennings 18 tries in 2018 we cant use them
Hope Nofo does have a blinder on the weekend

remember we are not meant to tall about how many tries Nofo lets in on here ssshhhh
we can however bag out Jenning's 18 he scored in 2018 and also his semi final appearances

Foxsports actually did an analysis on Benji's axing and found him directly responsible for 6 of the 11 TRIES scored down that edge 2 to Leilua 2 to Nofoaluma and 1 a combined effort of crapolary..when looking as to the reason Marshall may have been axed..

Wasn't lost on me Geo, but Benji has his supporters who failed to notice these lapses

I enjoy coming to this site occasionally but when I digest some of the things I read it makes me think many supporters have a low football IQ.

Selections are made by the coaching staff based on what they see in games and training. If players continue to be selected you can be assured they have stats and analysis to back up those selections, regardless of what we television coaches believe.

It's laughable we're blaming wingers for losses, we need to look more than skin deep.
