Newcastle could lose Tex Hoy after locking in Kalyn Ponga for another four years
Locking in superstar Kalyn Ponga for another four seasons is a huge coup for the Knights, but where does that leave rising star Tex Hoy Could be worth looking at ,Marshall on the way out Douhei to 5/8 Hoy to FB 20 year old played well on debut well thought of in the Hunter but can they afford to keep him a half decent offer might get him away from Newy

Hoy won't leave Newcastle. His father is a surfing icon in the Hunter and the Knights will ensure he stays, as they should.

He is a half and fullback, only slot at the knights is 6, and Watson is also there

If Smith decides to keep playing they don't need Grant. They'd look at another player who's about 19 who they'd groom to take over when he's done. Will B Smith stay too if cam plays on??

I wouldn't take any notice of what the storm say now. They can't on one hand say they won't pressure Cam only to turn turn around and say both Grant and BSmith can go if he does stay on. Sounds a bit ultimatumy...

Put pressure in Grant to not want to go back or go for a year and come to us in 2022

I find it amusing that WT supporters get in a rage at the thought of Parra putting pressure on Stefano to break his contract with us, while we are suggesting that we should put pressure on Grant to break his contract with the Storm.

Pot meets kettle.

I'm OK with him exercising his contractual right to walk if that is indeed in his contract.

I wouldn't be inducing him to break contract though, especially after how Parra got Moses and Matterson to do the dirty on us.

Knowing our luck, Cam will play on, Grant will request the release and wind up playing for Parra.

I personally want grant to go back to the club that developed him, and gave him a chance to grab an origin jersey with a rival club. I would love for him to stay , sure, but it really is poor form . We have Simpkin and Liddle, 2 very different 9s who could compliment each other perfectly. And both have shown to be keen to build their future here. There’s talent in all 3 , so we are in a position at this club .

Don't know how it can be considered poor form if we got him to stay? Poor form is the norm, look at the way Roosters pillage top juniors from other clubs, they don't have a conscience when it comes to having guilty feelings towards a club that has nurtured homegrown talent over a couple of years/through injury etc like Tedesco.
Grant hasn't been at Storm long at all IIRC, not sure how much time and effort they have put into him.

It’s poor form because the deal was brokered on a sense of trust where as both players return to their old clubs . You can rationalise it however you want , but it is not the moral thing to do despite what the roosters do or don’t do .

If Capt Ego Smith decides he wants to lap up another year next year, Grant has a clause that allows him to sign with another club other than Storm. If that happens to be our club it is nowhere near poor form on WT's behalf: it's not like we have said we won't hold onto him regardless of what transpires. The ball is in Cammy's court.

Mate , I already said that if it’s a legitimate , and honest conversation , between all parties and no Bad feelings , that I of course support it . What I don’t support is the many posts on here , saying we should be looking to get Grant to renege on his deal/ get out of his deal ,to stay with us no matter what. It’s a dog act . And extremely hypocritical, considering the uproar and moaning when Moses and Matto did it to us. I of course am filthy about those 2 and I don’t think we should be going down that road . It shouldn’t even be a topic of conversation yet. At the end of the season when Captain Pocket ref makes his decision , we can assess it then . Should we let him know how welcome he is here ? For sure . Should we have a plan in place in the background? Of course !
But should we actively do a Parra Eels and Entice him to break contract ? No way ! He’s a storm player .
To be honest . The way around this in the future is the loan deal needs to come with a caveat of a buyout clause . Eg. Barcelona has put 150mil buy out on thier 17 year old striker . If you’re mad enough to pay that for a 17 year old , go for it .
Would you want the tigers to pay 5 mil for Grant for arguements sake ? Even if it was outside the cap ? I wouldn’t . That money would be better spent elsewhere . But it would be a real conundrum wouldn’t it .
It would also stop early poaching teams like Parra. If you want to go to them sure Matto . But they have to pay a transfer fee . They Have too!
It would put a lot of pressure of the Head of football to make proper player evaluations .

Rankin signed with Parra.

Damm thought he would come back to us looks like we've dodged another bullet

I rate Rankin equally to Mbye and for 20th of the price .

Jake Mullaney
I blame Jake Mullaney for the decision to let Papenhoozen go. "Great kid, but too little, too lightweight. Look what happened to Jake. Pappy won't make it in the Hurley Burley of the NRL" says Tiger's Recruitment Guru.

From Sporting News

St George Illawarra Dragons winger Mikaele Ravalawa has re-signed with the club on a three-year deal, keeping him in the Red V until at least the end of the 2023 season.
The 22-year old debuted at the beginning of 2019, and has scored 14 tries in his 23 NRL games to date.

The Fijian international said in the official club statement he is excited to continue his career at the Dragons, and believes he will continue to improve.

"I'm happy to be re-signing with the club. It's so good living down in the Wollongong area and I'm very comfortable with my decision," he said.

"I'm super excited to go around with the Dragons again and spend further time with the boys here.
"I have built great relationships at the club, which can be tough to do sometimes being from Fiji.
"I know I am still improving as a player too. Last weekend I made a few errors under the high ball but I know I can be better.
"I'll be doing my best to make the team happy every time I play."
Ravalawa has been criticised in the early stages of his career for both his handling errors and his defence, but has shown plenty of promise and carries the ball well out of his own end.

Dragons recruitment officer Ian Millward said the club were always looking at Ravalawa as a 'long-term Dragon'.
"We are rapt that Mika and his partner have shown faith in the Dragons as there was plenty of competition looking to secure his services," he said.
"Mika is very powerful and very strong, and someone who has made great in-roads in his training, performances and the way he's earned the respect of the playing squad and our staff.

"When we first signed him we knew we wanted him to be a long-term Dragon.
"As he continues to evolve as a player we're confident Mika will be one of the better Fijian players to have played numerous seasons in the NRL."
Ravalawa will line up on the wing for the Dragons on Saturday afternoon against the Titans.

**This might make Jason Saab even more interested in leaving the Dragons.**

Bellamy has shown an interest in Saab..tho he doesnt pay hiswingers well
We'll probably end up with an aging Morris..or an Austin!

Hopefully, could possible be even better. The problem is though with our young team we can’t afford to have a inexperienced hooker. Maybe if 2nd tier football kicks off again soon he might get a decent enough run to prepare him for first grade. If it’s a a definitely no to keeping Grant I’d be getting Simpkins on the bench as soon as are allowed to play our dev players to get some game experience in him. He sure looks like he can play, but so did Liddle until he hit firsts.
