I sound like a broken record but the missing piece is a controlling half

Additionally a wow factor fullback and a fast winger.


The fullback or fast winger will do very little if we dont sort out the halves.

A player capable of winning a clive churchill medal is who we need to be looking at.

I dont think that is Brooks or Walters.

Who though..most of those are tied up..

Let me spell it out for you.

Brooks is not going to get any better, he is what he is. As he is he isnt a player that will ever step up in a grand final and get us home.

Coach's job now is to go and find someone who can.

Im not talking about signing someone who can do it tomorrow. As he has with all his signing he will survey the field wand recruit a player who has these attributes.

I know Dean Pay would not agree with me but I would look at Lewis from the Dogs Great defence and good gold kicker. Learning his trade at the moment but great potential.

I'm warming to this idea. Dogs are cashed up and on the hunt for a halfback. Prepared to pay overs, so lets trade Brooks for Lewis and the dogs can pay the difference.

Lewis is defensively on par, superior kicking game & he looks to be calm out there with good communication skills.

Seriously, has anyone ever dropped a Brooks bomb? It's like his intention is to make it as easy as possible for the FB to catch. Not to mention his severe low energy personality, that if he walked into a doggy day care, all the pups would go straight to sleep.

He’s on huge money but it’s good for titans I think. They have made some good signings and look like they have begun heading in the right direction. Still a long way off being a finals team but with Fifita and Tino they will look a lot better next year

Lewis is one of the worst halves in the competition. He doesn’t offer anything at all and I’ve never seen him do anything overly impressive. Foran or Wakeham are both better options

Farnworth wants future sorted 'sooner rather than later'

Herbie Farnworth intends to get his next contract sorted out "sooner rather than later" and insists he wants to stay at the Broncos.

The off-contract England-born outside back has been one of Brisbane's few success stories in 2020 which is why he has attracted interest from other NRL clubs and Super League.


The Broncos have tabled an extension offer to the 20-year-old who is managed by his uncle Brian Foley. Foley, previously a legendary development coach and recruiter for Wigan Warriors, has not rushed his nephew and due to his impressive form in 10 NRL games this year the former soccer prodigy is now a man in demand.

"I'd rather get it done sooner rather than later," Farnworth said when asked about his contract situation.

"I am not trying to drag anything out or rush anything either. I'm just trying to focus on the season that we are playing at the moment.

"I've got a special bond with the Broncos. I have been around the club for three years now and it is like a little family.

"I came through the under 20s with Patty [Carrigan], Fleggy [Tom Flegler] and Payno [Payne Haas] so I'd definitely love to stay at the Broncos.

"I am here until the end of the year and hopefully here for the next couple of years too."

Farnworth scored a try and had one disallowed in Friday night's 46-8 loss to the Storm. His finishing, high skill level, speed and grit have all impressed Broncos captain Pat Carrigan who is aware of Farnworth's background in the Manchester United junior system.

"He came from a small town in England and what you see is what you get with Herbie," Carrigan said.

"His commitment to get to where he is today is what he gives you on the field. He is always good for his tough carries and his finishing.

"If you see him training, he gets everything he deserves through hard work."

Farnworth said he was still not happy with areas of his game and determined to "get a lot better" as the Broncos search for a way to get out of a hole which has seen them win just one of their past nine games.

Tigers have to lock up players free to negotiate after this season. Off contract in 2021 are Josh Aloiai, Shawn Blore, Kane Bradley, Michael Chee-Kam, Zac Cini, Jacob Liddle, Jock Madden, Thomas Mikaele, Zane Musgrove, David Nofoaluma, Russell Packer, Josh Reynolds, Billy Walters.

Aloai, Blore, Bradley, Cini, Mikaele, Nofa are the players I would lock up. Liddle, Madden, Musgrove, Walters will have to play for extensions

The huge money that comes off for Reynolds and Packer should be enough to upgrade and extend these players. Depends on who else is out there in terms of recruits but we have to keep building and not let our bad history with retention continue.

Sorry, it was in response to the team line up. I'd prefer starting with Blore than Garner. Definitely room for both, but Garner would be coming off the bench in my opinion.

If garner fixes up his front on defence he’ll be value.
As like all of us, we prefer Garner on the left anyway.
Could Lucy be our long term 13?
His currently punching out 80 mins in the back row and decent numbers but his being used a lot more as a battering ram than as ball playing forward utilising his silky short passing game that he was known for.

Honestly I think Mbye is playing exactly how he always does. He has the odd good game in him, and for the most part he is fairly safe, but he has never really been much more than a slightly above average player, whether playing with the Dogs or with us. I think the hype around him when he first came onto the scene was very misguided. I reckon the Dogs realised that after their mistake of giving him a big contract and happily shifted him over to us when we came calling only for us to make that same mistake!

The guy’s had a dream run - lots of money from 2 clubs, made captain, given a Qld Origin berth because there wasn’t anyone better to fill the utility role at the time - all for doing bugger all most weeks really.

Yeah I know, but you can’t say we are playing him into holes at the moment. Locks find plenty of space in the line don’t worry about that as I said my main issue with him playing off the halves wide is he doesn’t get to play short balls into the forwards.
