Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I’m curious about what’s going on with Momirovski. He and Pascoe both said he’s signed but no announcement. I wonder if there’s a reason they’re holding off on it, maybe they use him as a bargaining chip for JAC

If true about Mbye hopefully we can get rid of Momo too and buy a very good centre.

Momirovski is a very good footballer on a low contract. Ideal player to compete for backline spots and depth. Wouldn’t make any sense to not keep a solid player on a cheap deal. Issue with Mbye is the contract he’d be a great utility as a 14. He has skills and versatility .

Happy to be proven wrong but I don’t think he’s good enough to be a starting NRL centre. As a depth player on a small contract I have no problem, but as a starting centre for us I think we can do much better.

Yeah agreed, most if not all clubs in the NRL would be happy to have him on their roster at a modest contract value. Melbourne are happy enough to play him and he's scoring tries, making line breaks and tackle breaks for them like he always has, but we shouldn't find a place for him in our 30 man squad :face_with_rolling_eyes:

'stuck' behind branko Lee at the moment.

My boss said to me once about one of my staff

I know he’s a great guy and everyone likes them, they hit targets and is consistent, but are they really going to help you get your goals next year.

After some thought, they were right, I got rid of them

Momo is one of those players for us

That logic seems pretty screwed up. Surely if that person (and everyone else) is consistently hitting their targets, then the team should hit its targets.

Unless the person in charge is setting the wrong targets or incorrectly assessing the performance. What did you expect this person to do?

Talau and BJ will be starting centres for us next year. If Madge can get BJ fit he will be a gun for us. Talau has class written all over him and a specialist centre. Momirovski is cover for both and can play wing.

Brenko Lee has been playing well this season, he's defending a lot better at Melbourne than he ever did at Canberra, the Bulldogs or the Titans. Momirovski is still in the 17 and has been since he first got a game at Melbourne. He's bounced Seve out (I'm not claiming that's any great feat).

It was more about the amount of work I needed to put in for them to hit target. I was spending too much time and my efforts were not sticking. Too much time spent on them lowered overall performance.

Their point was about having everyone being a high performer and not settle for ok. A complete mindset change really

Your boss sounds like a very ordinary people manager. Maybe it worked out for you but that had every chance of going horribly wrong. Sacking someone who is well liked and who does their job could have just created a work environment where people were disgruntled (because you sacked a good bloke for no reason) and were in fear of their own jobs (because you sacked a bloke who was performing his job). If you end up with staff who are only interested in getting ahead then they may hit higher targets in the short term, but they'll leave as soon as a better opportunity comes along or, worse still, will white-ant you and go after your job.

Im hoping there's a redemption story written about BJ sometime this year or next about how his incident in the Penrith game and how Madges reaction has changed his career and his life. I really hope he can change mentally and be one of the best centre's in the game.

Watch your back, sounds like your boss wouldn't hesitate to say something like that about you to someone else either. Sounds like a snake, hopefully karma comes back at him TBH.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we let Mbye move on. Over the next year or two we will have Talau, Hoffman and the kid from the Roosters all gunning for spots in the backline. I doubt there will be a place for him. I doubt Madge would want to play him in the halves.

Hopefully we can offload him. Can't see him leaving though, he ain't gonna be getting $800k/900k or whatever ridiculous money he is on anywhere else. We'll be his retirement home for a couple more years yet sadly.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Ivan cleary would sign Cartwright for $800k a season for 4 years. Madge hopefully won’t even think about the bloke

Well he must have something as two pretty good coaches are keen on him. And to tell you the truth .... so am I.

I don't like the talk of Benji being shipped around. Surely the best thing for all concerned is for him to fish his career as a Tiger.

Reynolds is going well at the moment but who knows what could happen over the course of the season.

If genuine we should refuse that release every day of the week. Reynolds hasn't put together an uninjured season in a long time. I think Benji will still be needed this season.

Its genuine i have a mate that is a players agent and he does not talk BS.

All player agents would be full of BS it would be safe to say.
Benji would get a gig at 3 or 4 teams if he was really keen to get a game at another club.

Well let's see what transpires, just giving other forum members a heads up, comments like yours ensure i should not share reliable information in future.

Most people here like rumours even if they turn out to be false, but it's a losing game if you get thin-skinned if people doubt you.

Well i can state that my rumor of Fifta going to the Titans was correct and called it 23 plus days ago, so to those members that gave me a hard time, proof is in the signing. i doubt i will give any more in future from my mate a players agent in the NRL mainly because it dud not like the feedback given.

Mate if you have a rumour than post it. Surely you have a thicker skin than that. Also you’re not the only person with contacts in the NRL and you won’t be the first to get a rumour right or wrong for that matter. It’s a dynamic workplace with shifting sands and most people understand what is correct today, may not be tomorrow. Just keep the goss coming, that’s the whole purpose of this thread.

**so is the purpose of the thread to also have other forum members give you crap when you have a source and share it?**
I gave another rumor tonight tonight that is factual lets see what happens with that one as well. cheers.

Well my answer to that is no. However, i'm not a moderator, so what does and does not get posted is way out of my control.
Having said that for every person that takes the mickey out of what you post there are probably 10 or more who appreciated what you have divulged.
Further to that, i'm not sure how long you have been on here, but if you have been a "lurker" so to speak, then you would realise from time to time there have been some real ................trying to think of an appropriate word here......"tossers" ( that will have to do) that lie through their teeth and therefore make people somewhat skeptical when others post their info.
As for your rumour on Mbye, i believe you, i believe that could happen. I also believe it may not due to whatever circumstances, doesn't mean you weren't right today. Its a forum on an internet. This place at times requires a thick skin, especially after a loss. Hopefully yours is thick enough to stick around and post the rumours you have. :+1:

Good informed feedback mate, Yes only a relative new forum member this season.
Thick skinned certainly and would only share information that's factual.
Have taken your comments onboard always up for constructive feedback, and well written, Cheers.

I think Coach should drop him like Benji & Brooks and see how he reacts... I would expect the captain of the club would want to turn it around ..
I truly believe he is not an **on field** captain regardless as you never see or hear him guiding the team around. You have a look around at the captains out there and you can see the difference..
Wade Graham, Croker & Hodgson, DCE, Cameron Smith, Mitchell Pearce, Clint Gutherson, Adam Reynolds, Friend & Cordner - They are always talking to players, Talking to refs regarding decisions (right or wrong but gives the team time to reset), Shows emotion and challenges refs to ensure they are aware there are 2 teams out there (planting a seed as they say for calls later on)... Sadly we lack this big time and just wave our hand and say the normal YES SIR.. If you want a good example just watch wade Graham last night v Dragons. Don't get me wrong I don't want a whinger like Croker or Graham and doing it every time in the game but just when needed.

People are going to comment and say we need to be better then this and learn to control our discipline etc..but for me I would love my captain to challenge decisions that are just wrong and not let refs walk all over us.

Personally I would move Mbye to 14
