Yeah, this current narrative that you don’t need a controlling player is embarrassing. Ridiculous.

The Tigers beat the Bulldogs in Round 7 when Keiran Foran played 80 minutes.

There are obviously more important aspects to a teams performance than a controlling half.

One dominant player can work, the 6 & 7 or the 6, 7 & 9 sharing the responsibility can also work.

One controlling half can win you a comp but yes multiple can share the duties. That doesn't mean we don't need one.

Pearce and Pongo came up short

But...but - they are "game managers" surely with all that field position (and 7 set restarts to 1) they must have got the Knights home.

Ponga ain’t a game manager. Pearce is a choker. Cameron Smith is a game manager. DCE too

DCE Lowlights Round 9 2020, an absolute shocker. https://streamable.com/na0eh2

Watch his game vs eels. Led manly to a victory one of his best games ever not everyone can play perfect all the time.

Despite people on this forum not thinking it exists, all the good teams at the moment have halves who control games. Yes they hold onto the footy and run hard but their halves lead them around beautifully which is something we lack

Yes that's true but it is ludicrous to suggest that one player in the halves can win games without a dominant performance from the forwards. A half cannot control a game behind a beaten pack no matter who it is - they go hand in hand- hence a team performance.

Clearly a half needs to work behind a strong forward pack, but guys like smith and DCE manage a game and keep field position, find touch, win repeat sets that keeps his team on the front foot which benefits the forwards. Definitely goes both ways but having a classy controlling halfback is crucial and it’s clear we are missing it

Correct, and as I said a week ago, that's why the chooks got Cronk.

But but but is the response.

We could end up with two AJ's for next season, I would doubt South AJ will move to Melbourne. US and Dragons would be the likely suitors.

If the Suali deal falls through he will end up at the Rabbits. If he leaves Roosters will get him to replace Brett Morris.

Sounds like Farnworth is staying at the broncos

That's a shame, could have been handy. We'll know this week if we manage to get someone given August 2nd is Sunday.

They probably offered him extra money with the Fifita cash

With Asu coming I think our top 30 is full. Would be surprised if we managed to let someone go and sign someone new inside this week

I think they are looking at next year for the other two signings Josh.

The Pom mentioned the other day the three people we were talking to were for this year.

I think so yeah. Don’t see us changing this years top 30 anymore.
