I really don’t think Sezer is any better than Brooks as a half except that he can kick goals.

Brooks is significantly better than Sezer. How many clubs has Sezer seen and failed? What makes you believe he will be any better at. WTs than he was at his previous clubs which wasn't good enough? I'd much rather develop Madden.

Shame we missed out on Zac Lomax. Only decent St George player worth taking. Sailor did show some promise but still has a long way to go.

Yet so many people on here wrote him off after the first couple of games this season, and his tail end of last season. There's an awful lot of immature, impatient and premature judges on here.

It was clear as day Lomax would do well once he settled in to first grade.

And so many judge young players saying "I saw him play for 30 mins once is a game we lost 40-0 and he didn't stand out" it's just absurd.

I'd sure hate to see most of you as a boss. First day on the job you'd be yelling and screaming that the new guy isn't up to speed and is getting sacked!

I don’t, hence my comment about him not being any better than Brooks ?‍♂️

Madden has two chances of playing 1st grade none And Buckley’s . He was ordinary playing can’t cup last year , so I don’t understand people pushing him as a, replacement for brooks .

I would take a massive punt on Foran for two years. You know he has the ability to call the shots, you know he can defend and you would imagine he would be a good mentor for Brooks and Maden. His body is what your punting on, but I think he is worth the risk considering what’s available

Just like Sam McIntrye was average in C Cup last year. Saw enough in the early season trials to suggest he could make it but still a work in progress as far as 2020 goes

Just like Papenhuyzen was too small, McIntyre a plodder who won't be re-signed and Madden now has the target on his back!

I’ve heard a few of the team talk up madden. Nofa in a podcast talked him up a lot and Russell Packer was talking to me about him at a function I was at a while ago

The club seems very keen on Camroux as well. Will be interesting to see if they sign a more experienced guy like Foran to play until Camroux is ready or give Madden a crack

Bit harsh for the kid, he’s only what 19 or 20? moving away from a town (Newcastle) he’s lived his entire life and only just playing against the big boys for the first time last year. Madden is more a long term project to me but I think he should be pushing for first grade selection 100% next year at some stage

No one knows how Madden will go in first grade, but he was not ordinary in canterbury cup.

I will concede his defence was ordinary but he was creating plenty of tries in reserves.

Jock Madden is a Scone product. His cousin is/was a Wallaby and I think his grandfather may have been a Kangaroo. He looks to me to be a fine player.

If Benji retires we need to buy a half. I thought Foran would be good for a year or two. Hope we’re trying to get Widdop.

Doesn't matter if it's true. I'm sure he has the option any time another club is willing to take him.

There is no way he's going to walk away from $800k to play somewhere else. I don't blame him.

Not even if someone offers him 3 years 1.2m ? And he has time to sort out his post Playing career ?

Do you think that is likely to happen for a 31 year old fringe first grader with an injury history?

As far as I can tell he's not keen to go to England so what NRL club is going to offer him that?

You have to go where the money is .England is his destination . I mean of course it’s up to him , but as you said no Aussie club is offering him that , but a few English clubs would .

Wests Tigers are attempting to unearth the next James Tedesco by resurrecting St Gregory’s Campbelltown as rugby league’s greatest school.

As part of Michael Maguire’s roots-and-all rebuild of the club, the Tigers have made it their mission to revive the rugby league program famous for producing a long line of NRL stars.

The nursery that produced the likes of Tedesco, Chris Lawrence, Jack de Belin, Trent Barrett, Jason Taylor, Tim Sheens and even the late Jack Gibson.

“I am a big believer in nurturing and building our own,” Maguire said.

“And we have a plan at that includes St Gregory’s Campbelltown.”

Eleven years ago there were genuine fears for the future of the school as a rugby league nursery.

“I want to get that school back to where it was in terms of a rugby league nursery,” Maguire said.

“It has produced some of the great names in rugby league but has lost its way a little bit. I want it to be the school that every rugby league kid wants to go to again.’’

Maguire said he would not walk out on the Tigers to join the Cowboys and declared his mission to build a premiership-winning team had just begun.

Maguire is contracted to the club until the end of 2021 and will discuss extending his deal at the end of this season.

“I want to build long-term success,” Maguire said.

“Not just short term which coaches can sometimes do. I am not just here for short-term fixes.’’

NRL: Vision has emerged of Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire blowing up at his side during the halftime break despite leading the Warriors by six points.
Maguire’s long-term fix includes rebuilding rugby league at St Gregory’s.

“We are going to work with St Gregory’s to get them to get it back,” Maguire said.

“I want them to be aligned with the Wests Tigers. It’s in our area. We want them to be our school.’’

On the week that the club will celebrate the careers of club greats Benji Marshall and Chris Lawrence, Maguire said the club would produce another homegrown star.

“I am investing in kids,” Maguire said.

“They are the future. We are signing up a lot of the local talent which has probably been something we haven’t been good at. I am talking to 16-year-olds and 18-year-olds. They are the future of the club. I am going to bring the local juniors through.’’

In his second year of a three-year deal, Maguire’s has already put a new steel in the Tigers.

Starting with off-field changes which included extending the club’s high-performance program and increasing coaching staff, Maguire has also improved the club in 11 of 12 key on-field indicators.

While often credited for their defence, statistics also reveal the Tigers are scoring more points, making more run metres, making more tackle busts and making more linebreaks under Maguire.

“The players themselves have no excuses whatsoever not to perform at their best,” Maguire said.

“We have put everything in place for them to succeed. The club itself doesn’t have an excuse not to succeed anymore.”
