There’s a positive side to the Panthers winning the GF this year ? and that is, the winner seems to find it hard to hold onto all the GF players due to their value going up. So Viliame Kikau and Stephen Crichton anyone?.

I don't think Kikau would handle Madge as a coach though

How so?

Cause he is a bit of a bludger.

Doesn't go looking for the ball to take hard hitups very often etc. imo.

This has to be a joke. You cannot be serious.

I just think Madge hard style of training would wear pretty thin on a big bloke like Kikau and the relaxed style of IC would be his cup of tea

The way this side is playing it looks to me like Maguire’s hard style is wearing pretty thin on most

Good ol' Toddy - whiteanting as usual.

Scumbag!

Not much ethics there is there. Maguire's name being pushed forward by an unrepresentive 3rd party and Payten putting himself forward. BTW, who is Paytens agent?

Weidler is a talentless hack. Wouldn't believe any of his rubbish. That said, Payten, love him or hate him, has done a good job in very difficult circumstances, with the Warriors. Madge still has a contract with us in any event.

Just goes to show how soft our playing group is. And has been for nearly a decade. That is going to take a hell of a long time to change, that or clearing our decks of the entire current playing roster. That will take a bit of time and a hell of a lot of money to subsidise contracts of these long-term players to new clubs. What a mess.

Immaterial of who the players are I think a strategy of having 10 or so of your 30 player roster coming off contract each year are should be looked at as ideal - gives turnover and provided it is a right mix of backs and forwards shouldnt disrupt team structures.

I reckon get the spine settled, along with opportunistic buys forwards and backs in your main 20 squad and the other 10 depth players can do the best with what opportunity comes their way.
Unfortunately I think our spine has no certain starters and each position- fullback, five-eigth, halfback and hooker- filled with players who are not holding their hands up.

We are not helped by high value low output contracts to Reynolds, Packer and Mbye plus the sentimental hanging on to Marshall and Lawrence has had its time.

Who would want to be in Maguire's shoes (except Todd Payten)

Especially if @willow who I have no reason to doubt, is correct in there having been a very physical contact session on Monday. I have supported our respective coaches since wanting a then getting stale Sheens gone and haven't given up on Maguire yet, despite having concerns similar to yours, though the past couple of weeks has me very worried.

Signing wise, we need speed and a kicker first and foremost, so if someone has both those attributes that is considered first grade ready, even better and must be targeted.

💯 We are targeting the right players but it’s hard to sign anyone. Lomax, Brimson, Latrell, Harry Grant. Madge knows what he is doing but has to settle for what he can get. Hasn’t taken him long to work out we need to find our own.

Cause he is a bit of a bludger.

Doesn't go looking for the ball to take hard hitups very often etc. imo.

Good in a good team that can carry him like the Panthers

Would be bog average in the current tigers team

Disagree, he would be our best forward in our side by a country mile. The issue is he would be burnt out by mid season by touching the ball as much as we made Tedesco touch the ball in ‘17 because he’d be our only strike weapon.
In saying that I’m thinking to myself, why don’t we just do that BJ. Give him the ball more than anyone else and overwork him into the game. He could make 200 plus meters a game. Surely something would have to come off?

The only thing coming off would be BJ...from the field. He looks like he's only got 5 minute bursts of effort in him TBH.
Would've thought he would've returned from his suspension in great physical condition but he looked like he was carrying more pudding than ever yesterday. Not a good sign of a player's commitment.

Mmmm, even our blokes looked great against the Cows for the most part though to be fair.

Yes I agree. That was kinda my point. He did not look in shape at all. But having him run as much as he can surely would get him match fit?
Needs a stint in the front row in his current condition.

Proctor would be a good pick up.
Shame it looks like he is playing for a new contract with the Titans, doubt he would be tempted to cross the boarder.

You look at both Newcastle and Parra, both targeted established quality players in their re build to get up the ladder. Okay they had some really good kids coming through but the surrounded them with experienced winners.

**We can sign up 30 of the best kids in the country but nothing will change till you get some winners to show them the way. I guess you have to wonder how are they going to convince quality players to join up**

Chicken and egg scenario. Show the winners what is coming through, sell them the vision so to speak. Otherwise it’s paying massive overs.

There’s 10 players in the current squad Maguire signed, why sign players if their not going to improve the team just to say we have signed someone he has to own it

Our roster is still really poor when you look at. We still need improvements almost everywhere.

Yep 👍 running through our list, probably about 4/5 players capable of playing in a top 4 team. Blore, Luciano, Doueihi, Nouf and Twal only real talents. Aloiai and Mikaele would be good off the bench.

I would only keep 3
The rest are surplus to the requirements

Luciano
Blore
Talau
