Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It’s a shame what’s happened to Payten. Probably one of my all time favourites. Doesn’t get enough credit for how good he was with the ball in his hands. Almost like a ball playing prop. However, it’s been disappointing seeing what he’s become since retiring. Seems like a shady dude who would throw anyone under the bus for his own gain.

I think we need to get flogged for the rest of the season , so that the people who run our club realise that we need to sign some hard nosed players not just young hopefulls , u must have a balance so the kids can learn .

Maybe we've tried but had no success

Top of the list recruitment wise - A good half. Then a good winger with pace. Then a second rower.

Good luck Madge majority of clubs will be trying to sign the exact same players

I say we do a Massive 2022 signing. We will have all of Reynolds and Packer,'s money by then. And we can do it, in only a few months after whatever the cut-off date is this year. (Usually it's November 1, but this year, who knows?)

But in only five or so months, we could sign a player like Keary, Flanagan, Adam Reynolds, Nathan Brown, Ferguson, Pearce, JAC, Jesse Bromwich, Jahrome Hughes, Joel Thompson for 2022. Let's sign someone great up and work towards that to lure more players over.

May as well, because the guys we have now I don't think can do any better in our current system.

We had the opportunity to do that last time.
I was really hoping that was the way we were going to go.
Instead we signed a bunch of players that were ready to go the next year.
If we recruit in November for 2022 we need to see all these players a dream and whoever the players are you need to sign them on a one in all in approach. Signing them up individually may not cut it.
With the club assured of our new roster for 2022 see if then the likes of Packer, Reynolds, Mbye will move on a year early as ‘obviously there is no future beyond the 2021 year for them’ if they don’t move on fine, give them the job to be leaders and help with the development of our youth and future core players.

Just my thoughts but what better advertisement for WTs and. RL is to use Benji as a development officer in this region. Every kid had the Marshall step and he is instantly associated with WTs, Kiwi expat families and success.

I think his target market has passed. The kids that idolised him are now late teens and 20s. He doesn't have that sort of pull.

Kotoni Staggs apparently wants out of broncos? He’s a very good centre. He can take Mbyes spot, although centre is not really a priority for us.

That would be great wouldn't it.

He was a favorite player if mine and has unravelled all of his good work with his post career shenanigans.

Still wants to come home aye.

I'd be happy with a 1 year deal for Nico Hynes, I'd also be stoked if we could jag Bunty Afoa and Adam Reynolds if the rabbits need cap space for Jac

There’s a positive side to the Panthers winning the GF this year 🤢 and that is, the winner seems to find it hard to hold onto all the GF players due to their value going up. So Viliame Kikau and Stephen Crichton anyone🤤.

Souths aren’t going to give up their halfback and captain to sign a winger

Except if you’re the Roosters. They haven’t had to give anyone up.

May I ask why my previous post in this thread has been deleted? There was no swearing or personal attacks of any sort in it.

You quoted a post which contained swearing.

I don't think Kikau would handle Madge as a coach though

I just think Madge hard style of training would wear pretty thin on a big bloke like Kikau and the relaxed style of IC would be his cup of tea

Josh Addo-Carr and Katoni Staggs immediately

Both bring supreme pace and Staggs can goal kick

2. David Nofoaluma
3. BJ Leiluia
4. Katoni Staggs
5. Josh Addo-Carr

Tommy Talau should be given a go at 6 - apparently that’s his best position, kid has talent and is worth experimenting there over Benji that’s for sure..... if his ball playing skills are good and he seems to be decent under the high ball, I wouldn’t mind him maybe even transitioning him into a fullback one day down the track and seeing how he goes there

650k at Staggs - 21 years old
450k at JAC - 25 years old

McQueen and Reynolds combined are being paid more and they don’t even play...... both still young and have tremendous pace and upside, if Madge is serious about rebuilding this side these two need to be targeted!

We need to be aggressive in the market, but this time done correctly and not after players like Mbye and Reynolds

Sounds great. Problem is we'll need at least 700k minimum for JAC and probably a bit more than what you mentioned for Staggs.

Then you have Doueihi, Reynolds, Mbye, Staggs, JAC, BJ, Brooks, Packer all on more than 600k each. Don't think we have anywhere near the cap space to fit them in.

The only way out of this mess is punting on youth IMO.

Teddy23 , ur right on the mark but a think , no I know we would not even try to sign them , it appears we are going down the rebuilding process of young blokes , but when will are club realise we need experience, but not old bloke experience.
