Hastings killed it in England. Not sure how well his form will go in the NRL but he’ll certainly be full of confidence

This.

He’s also doing a lot of community work with the club and haven’t heard any complaints about his personality. Everyone grows up eventually.

I believe I have seen him once beat a player. I think that player fell over.

Jordan Rankin went well in the UK.

Illawarra, Roosters, Manly .......

Why do some coaches persist in believing they are the one who can change a player when some of the best have tried and failed? Aren't our resources better spent on changing our style and specialist coaching for our halves?

Roosters are known for signing no talent duds - they must have missed that game

Should go hard for both Luai and Burton - other clubs will be too - need to force Penriths hand.

Exactly, panthers got a great crop of talent that can’t make the 17 when fully fit. Need to look at players who are stuck behind incumbents and go hard there. Burton is my favourite and would fit well into our shortcoming areas. May is good buddies with Cleary, hence why Burton is relegated to the 18-21. Also Luai would appear to be a good fit with Cleary which leaves Burton as the odd man out. Would be higher on our priorities then panthers and wouldn’t have to uproot his life to make the move.

Again, JAC would probably want to go to Souths, but at this point their salary cap is full. They can’t even keep their current winger let alone sign an origin level winger. We will have a good shot at him (but I think roosters will chase him)

Unfortunately Souths will find a way to sign him... Just like the Roosters do :man-shrugging:
Plus they have that young kid most likely going to sign for 2.5mil dollars or something like that.

Panthers seem to have so great guys not playing and sitting in reserves - We need to look at that as their current starters are going to demand more money soon the way they are going.

It's gonna take more than other team's reserve graders to make it to the finals Jonesy.

You mean we can have a wallaby and a kangaroo international on our wings for 2021
in Koro and JAC ???

some on the forum
No thanks we will take Nof and a combo of AJ, Jennings and or Talau

time to get one or two speedsters in, keep nofo if we have to but make a play hard for JAC or Koro hope that starts soem talent coming here. Problem is we will have to pay overs to get one of them

Maguire needs to address why Cleary could get the best out of Brooks but he appears to be unable to do it?

If Seizer and Hastings are serious options as our half I would question the path we are being taken down after the Joey Leilua and Jennings acquisitions.

This is a good point. Unless we solve the issue of why our halves are performing so poorly under the current coach and structure, it really won't matter who we sign.

Could start with giving them some go forward with the pack. No halves could perform well behind our current pack. They lift for one week and then go missing for three. There is a serious lack of physicality in our boys.

They've been killed the last two weeks but prior to that we've had multiple games this year where our pack has held their own. Even in games where we've won the battle in the middle, our halves have been ordinary. That's why Maguire has played a million combos - nothing is working.

Andrew Jones on 9 said we wouldn't make the 8. He believed our style of football could not be physically sustained. So really we can only buy so many forwards under the salary cap. Time for a different game plan.

Ikin last night said we looked 'cooked'. I agree with him.

It's a fair point. I remember the game against Bulldogs, we were smashing players in defence, then we played a tough game against Parra but had players with concussion everywhere.

That's what I mean Avo we can't seem to handle the weekly grind and our go forward has not been a problem just this year it was the same under Cleary - because it use to drive me nuts. Our halves are on a hiding to nothing who ever they are until we get some big mobile bodies who can get us our of our own half without relying on Nofo taking up two of the hit ups. Might be wrong but our success rate for scoring is pretty good in the oppositions zone we just don't get there often enough.

A coach needs to address each player individually. Some players need hard discipline to perform at their best whilst other players, like Brooks, do not respond to a bombastic coach. Madge surely should understand this but at the moment it doesn't seem apparent.

Still reckon the pack is our biggest liability imo. They try hard but too many times this year they can't match the opposition and it's game over. Our pack will lift for some games but they can't sustain it weekly and then the halves get smashed for not performing. Same old same old.

Problem with our pack is they are all similar hard working but no real stand out we need some one to say give me the ball and follow me they are the older hard heads in the comp like Proctor Tamou and JWH

gosh agree with Russ we can do better than Jackson Hastings he is ordinary. SL makes players look like world beaters plus the guy doesnt fit a no d#$k h#$d policy

Finals dont fit that policy either.

I know what I would prefer - how about you?

Marika is an absolute gun. By far the best winger in oz rugby. Would be the best in league if he came back.

But he’s on really good coin atm. You’d need 1 mill + to get him interested and that’s too much for an NRL winger.
