We have 10 or so players off contract so spots are available.

We have 25 signed up for next year, including 4 development players from this year and Momers.

We are talking of extending McIntyre and Eisenhuth, which makes 27 with only 3 vacancies to fill.

Not so much scope to upgrade the squad as many people think. We will have the capacity to significantly upgrade the squad for 2022.

I doubt that all current development players will auto migrate to top 30 squad next year.

I'm confused. The WT site shows 4 development players from 2020 (all except Hoffman) are in the top 30 squad next year. What am I missing ?

Fox does it against NRL defences. Huge difference.

You're not missing anything. Our development players are signed to move into the top 30 after 1 or 2 years on a development contract. This was how we were able to sign so many good, young player.

You’re not missing anything. You have to assume all 4 will be in our top 30 next season there’s no point guessing if they’ll be there or not, at this point in time they’re contracted for next season

Sounds like it's JAC to me. Between us and Dogs, you'd think we're a good chance.

We will be a good chance. Wouldn’t be surprised if Crowe takes JAC on a weekend away and suddenly he’s willing to take an 80% pay cut though

Honestly I don't think Souths would be after him. Mitchell is on an upgraded contract for next year and they have Arrow joining on big money. If Suaali joins he'll be somewhere in their backline. There's no point going after Addo Carr for them.

As we stand we have the following potential halves for 2021:

Brooksy, Benji, Douehi, JRey, Mbye & Billy Walters who we likely won't see until mid season at best

I'd happily move on JRey & Mbye if we found a wiling buyer but then I feel you have to keep Benji

I'd roll with Douehi at 7 and Brooksy at 6 and Benji as and when needed but not on the bench

If Mbye stays I'd possibly say its the end of the Benji era but even then maybe not if Mbye is our other centre

And I'd buy a fullback, probably prefer AJ from Souths over an unproven JAC who I feel is like many players, suddenly wants to be a fullback because he's looking for a new contrcat and fullbacks get more $$$

Between the Dogs paying Cotric a mint, which would affect how much they can offer JAC, and JAC’s previous affinity with our club, I’d say our odds are pretty short. IF he does leave Melbourne.

I agree, I think it's a very real chance of happening. Would be our biggest signing in some time.

JAC or Johnston (obviously I'd want JAC first.)

Can't have both, we need a fullback, Benji should be moved on this year and if Reynolds gets a gig for next year elsewhere I'd be moving Doueihi to five eighth and chasing a good fullback.

That would be some really good shopping if we pull that off, any how I can live in hope

21 currently + 6 (Benj, Eiso/McIntyre, 3/4 on $115k) and you'd have around $1.5m left potentially

It would be a challenge but AJ, JAC and Welch with a bit of back modest back ending would seem not entirely impossible

Assumes no change on Mbye, JRey or Packer

Don’t rule out the roosters. If the Morris boys hang up their boots they’ll most likely chase JAC as well, and I get the feeling Josh is willing to wait until the season is over to negotiate, he doesn’t seem in a rush

JAC and Welch alone would be tremendous. Two origin level players, seems to good for us. Who’s the last current origin player we’ve signed?

Scott Sattler? Didn't work out so well

Extremely sceptical about JAC. After the aforementioned trip to Crowe's farm I'm sure he will not only take a pay cut but also donate his salary to souffs.

We’ve not had many WT players play origin. Probably less than 10 ?

Three of our current squad have played origin. Didn't work out so well either

This will play out like Mitchell. We are the only real option at the moment until a stronger club gets involved.
