Proctor adds nothing to our team except raising the average age of the squad. Turning 32 next year...precisely the type of signing that will prevent the club from moving forward.

He’s better than all our second rowers bar Leilua. Garner has some games where he’s better and some where he’s worse.

I don’t see any other better options for a second rower and we still need one particularly an experienced one.

For cheap and on a two year deal what harm is there in signing him? Just because he’s not gonna score 10 tries a season and run people over doesn’t mean he’s bad

As someone has mentioned, if he comes here we're not getting him on the cheap.. Additionally, he's not any better than Garner but at 24 at least Garner has some upside. Proctor will be going backwards.

I'm all for signing some new backrowers but I can't see this being a good move at all. I can't imagine us all here in 2 or 3 years time saying "gee i'm glad we signed Kevin Proctor"

Why wouldn’t we get him for $300-$350k? Don’t see any other clubs lining up for him. Unless he goes to England he won’t be offered big money by anyone - if he doesn’t want to accept that offer and stay at GC then let him.

I’ve not seen proctor go backwards. He’s played good footy this year - has another good year in him then 2022 you’re expecting Blore to have cemented himself as our starter and proctor is good depth.

I don’t see many back rowers available either. If we can find someone better I’m all for it.

The Mole reporting Bulldogs going for Charlie Staines for 2021.

The bulldogs seem to be going for everyone at the moment.

They are going with the Gold Coast strategy of recruitment. Leak to the media all the players you want to sign and one is sure to stick. To be fair it worked out for them somehow....Fa'asuamaleuai, Fifita, Ese'ese.

Certainly has, their recruitment has been very good. Titans will have a good year next year.

Mal Meninga has clearly been using his position as Kangaroos coach to good effect. Time for Maguire to start getting that water murky and use his position as Kiwis coach to unethically sign NZ players.

I know we’ve overpaid for players in the past but it seems like everyone we are linked to everyone assumes we’ll pay overs for them, including off contract guys who are not getting big offers from anywhere else.

Madge has been pretty vocal about cleaning up our cap and I don’t think he will overpay for anyone unless they’re someone who’s top quality and can have an immediate impact to our team. Someone like Foran or Proctor who’s off contract it would make no sense to offer crazy overs

Let’s just go a full team of Samoans and kiwis

Only other half decent player is Brad Takairangi. Same age as the Proctologist but

He’s an okay player, but his price will get bumped up due to eels most likely going close to the grand final.

Did I read it wrong or did someone say Proctor isn't better than Garner? Wow! Even in the Titans Sharks game until the bite Proctor looked great. I was watching his runs thinking man, he would be great for us. Cmon our forwards are mostly OK but we badly need at least one experienced rep quality forward.

I would be surprised if we even got one big name signing let alone two or three. It seems like we have some money but not heaps, 2022 is the year we will have all the cap in the world to spend.

Yeah but we need to start hiring for 2022 in only a few months.

Samoan connection could be about to add another player to the club with Bunty Afoa’s name discussed this week. Warriors keen to offload & free up a Roster spot. Will pay majority of 2021 deal if needed.

Negotiations with Saab have stalled for 2 reasons, 1. Other recruitment opportunity’s arising 2. What Dragons wanting in return becoming sticking point also. Deal not dead but not as close as it was a few days ago.
With all these coaching changes the roster management is really starting to shift, also NRL hasn’t confirmed what size team lists will be next year.
Recruitment issue next year isn’t about cap space but roster spots. Club wants to free up some spots for 2021, this will ultimately cost us Esienhuth at this point.
Proctor has been discussed internally & a question of value was brought up with his mama helmet but nothing further.

Thanks POM, has there actually been any talk around JAC....or is this just a forum fallacy?

More than a dream, have to leave it at that.

Just read that warriors are shopping him around. He’s coming off an ACL injury but is a solid player and only 23. Would certainly be a good bench option for cheap.

Any idea what positions they are targeting? Surely a half?
