JAC won’t solve our on field problems instantly but he’s a quality player and it would be our first big name signing in forever (can’t remember the last time we signed a current origin player) and it shows other big name players that we are a club you can come to.

He’s also a very hard worker and a great fella players love to play with. We still need to upgrade our halves but it would be great to see us actually picking up a top quality player

Souffs will wangle paying him 350k and finding a spot so he can go
and play with his mate Latrine. I think this will be LM all over again.

I'm certainly not getting my hopes up that we'll get him, things have a way of falling apart whenever a big name is linked to us. I'd be extremely surprised if Souths went for him though, there is no way they have the money and they already have too much invested in their backline.

Something interesting I heard today...JAC's new manager is allegedly organising his own third party deals, thereby possibly reducing any potential club's salary cap outlay. Novel way of making your player affordable for more clubs.
Also a novel way of getting him into a club seemingly close to their cap limit.

To fit into Souths Salary Cap I would assume?

But Justin Pascoe said we’re a destination club?

Destination to Oblivion?

what to do with veteran favourite son Benj Marshall, who is off contract but has a deal on the table.

lol

If this is true Madge is definitely not the coach to get us out of this hole.
Benji has absolutely nothing to gain from not announcing his retirement, he could get a proper send off, he wants to play again no risk.

I think he's trying to stroke his ego with 1 more season. Gunning for the most capped player no.1 spot.
1 more season would do it :joy: :joy: :grimacing: :grimacing:

**Most first grade matches for Wests Tigers**:

Robbie Farah - 277
Benji Marshall - 252
Chris Lawrence - 250
Chris Heighington - 201
John Skandalis - 185
Dene Halatau - 180
Keith Galloway - 173
Liam Fulton - 162

Todd Payten - 151
Ben Galea - 150

I’ve just spent the last hour catching up on this thread. Haha - the speculating has started early this year!
Every year we are linked to every player on (or not on) the market. Then we start assembling forward packs and back lines the likes of which are only ever contemplated down Bondi way. Then we wait for the signings...and wait ... and wait....
Then we sign Pita Godinet ?

I’m still getting over the Godinet signing

We beat Melbourne and roosters with Godinet as our starting 9, lolohea at fullback and Rochow at second row. In fact we were 5-1. How Ivan managed that I’ll never know

I hate him but the man can coach

When someone else assembles the roster for him and players that have played together for years just do what their previous coaches have taught them to do in their sleep.

The only thing I would give him credit for is stuffing our cap big time, for being a lowlife in walking away from it and being a dope for blowing kisses at an opposition fan. Could crawl under a snakes belly with an umbrella up.

Can you Imagine being a Roosters fan
They don't need to sign anyone
How boring
What do those chookpen forum members do in the off season when they have no one to sign
I wouldn't give up coming 9th each year to be a Roosters fan
They would stand around for 6 months of the off season doing nothing but hanging out for the new season to start
At least us Tigers fans can look forward to and hope and Pray for new signings
Yeah when their footy stops we still keep on going
Hoping, searching and scouring the country for the one, our saviour
Who will it be this year
I look forward to 6 months of hope
Which Player is going to stand up and join our club

Na
Can't do it
When the regular season ends I will switch off
I need to stop wasting my time and try and preserve what ever sanity I have left

That's a load of crap CT - Rorters fans do plenty in the off season.

Sit around around and drink Lattes at the beach, congregate with hundreds of others at the beach and break Covid-19 rules, get their hair bleached - the list in endless.

It is a wonder they have time to watch the Rorters play... oh! right.

Regardless, doing a better job than our coach. Next year might be different, who knows.

Of course he is supposedly doing a better job, look at their roster as opposed to ours.

You are not comparing apples to apples Avo.

We have honestly got slugs for forwards! Deadset no leg drive, walking to the line! Can’t remember the last time our props and lock forward made more than 200m.

That's too funny - Packer McQueen and Reynolds "fuming". Just finished reading an article on JRey's new hobby developing 1Mil plus housing developments. He is enjoying it.

It sounds like total BS. What would McQueen have to be “fuming” about. He’s played 10 games in 3 years. That’s the tell in what utter garbage the story is.

It actually does not state McQueen is fuming his contract was up and was not going to be offered a new one, states several senior players are, assume Mybe would be one of those on a cushy deal $950k a season and is average at best, how many times last game did he continue to rush out of the line and leave gaps. Other Senior players could be Brooks and Marshall would prefer another year i hear but the coach is not entertaining the idea, part of the softly softly approach recently he knows that he does not have a squad to complete with the Big guns.
Mass clean out i hope

I know you can't stand Benji but re-signing him is fine from my perspective with the assumption he isn't being paid top dollars and as Madge has already shown he won't be picked if there is a better option.

It looks like Madge has given up on this group, so is letting them cruise through. Some have also given up on him but the handful of good players we have clearly still care. Hopefully some young guys get a run now and the deadwood can leave the bubble.

That list is pretty impressive with players and most won the 2005 premiership, long term stable team does wonders with playing finals.
Hopefully Benji realizes that his best playing days are over but i can understand this fact he is on much less $ than most to help our cap and might think the Tigers are obligated to give hom another year.

Do new signings have to wait until November to be announced.

Also I love Marshall and he will always be one of my favourite players but for the future of the club moving forward he can't be in a playing capacity in 2021. Happy for him to be given a role at the club where ever his skillset is best used.

Well i think some players should look at the Adam Doueihi effort last game shows he wants to play for the club.
Well i think we have a fair bit of deadwood will take more than 1 season to clean out more like 2022.

I doubt very much any supporter of our club hates Benji he is one of the best players to wear our jumper and helped us get a premiership.Signing him at any price for next year is a very poor idea in my opinion as it takes up a very valuable cap position.
He has been playing badly this season and much of last and will only be slower and worse next year.We need to think of the future not hang on to the past
