Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I think we need an experienced forward leader who leads by example with actions, not words (packer talks tough but has no output and gives away stupid penalties trying to be the enforcer). Would love if we could snag Jesse bromwhich (I think he can field offers Nov 1s?)

We obviously need speed in the back line, so JAC is the obvious target. I wouldn't discard Alex Johnson as a possibility either?

Lachlan burr is an aggressive type with good size

1: Alex Johnson (I know not quite a FB but speed)
2: noffa
3: Douhi/momo
4: BJ
5:jac
6: Douhi/mbye
7: brooks (sigh. Has lost confidence big time)
8: Jesse bromwhich
9:liddle
10: alioai
11: burr
12: lucy
13: twal

14: mbye/simpkin
15: Mikalele
16: musgrove
17: McIntyre

Jessie Bromwich has been ordinary for 3 or 4 seasons. No thanks. Christian Welch would be much better option.

I would be looking to sign Taniela Paseka back from Manly. Off Contract 2021and seems like a player Madge can work with. I’m over older players. We need size and power and many of them. Hunt as a pack.

Big yes but they like him at manly.

Would be nice for a change to recruit a player on the good side of 30 that doesn't need his arthritis monitored

with Hartigan rolling out the red carpet and selling the dream to local juniors I hope he does the same with Taniela.

Personally not sold on tamou. He was on the swap heap when the panthers signed him. I think he looks good in a great pack

James Hooper has us linked to Tamou. He wants a long deal but I wouldn’t give him any more than two years. Solid player who’s numbers are boosted by playing behind a good pack but he’s at the end of his career. Would be a forward leader but I don’t think would offer a lot on the field.

2 years would be good. Need someone to help Aloiai. Need front row more than we need second towers IMO.

If we have to offer him a three year deal to come over, I'd still be for it. Medically retire him if he gets hurt. But not four years, too risky I think.

he would be 34yo. How many props are productive at 34?

Can’t believe he left to be honest.
His excuse was that he wasn’t guaranteed a first grade position (was signed as development player) as he though because his youth buddy playing alongside him Moses Suli was promoted so should he. So he leaves and signs with Manly in their 30 and doesn’t play one game that year.
Example of young kid impatient and expecting things to happen quicker than reality.
Why would he be keen to come back if he was keen to leave so quickly in the first place.
I get what your saying but we need to find one that is our own Taniela Paseka and Junior Tatalo (ironic I know given they were here to begin with) We banked it on Tommy Mikale where I don’t know what made the club think he was a better talent than the other 2.

Fijian, doesnt count

Cannot see any signing news for the near future especially for a player in the halves like Burton.
Need time for the dust to settle for Benji and hope we can turn a few more over.

Benji did say last night that there would be more but he could be referring to ET, McQueen as they are off contract.

Yeah it's safe to assume we will NOT be signing any halves unless another one is let go. The narrative with Marshall is that we have too many halves on the books, there would be massive backlash if we went and signed another half.

IMO forget about Burton, Hastings etc. for next year. Burton is under contract anyway until end of 2021.

Watching ESL this morning Gareth Ellis still going around and playing well IF only we could get one as good as him again.
Blake Austin Kevvie and the flying mullet still producing.

I would love them to sign a young class half. Dargan, Hynes or Burton.
If they sign Burton that's crazy he is the future of the NRL. He is amazing like a young Joey Johns.

We already signed the next young Joey Johns!

I agree

I was under the impression that Charlie Staines is a good goal kicker. However looking at his Canterbury Cup record he did not even attempt goal kicking. Are we under a delusion, the same as we were with MBye and Doehi that he is a even a half reliable goal kicker?

If you were looking at a goal kicking 5/8 from Newcastle Lino would be better value

I don't mind Lino, pretty handy player

I found the same, couldn’t see any stats for his goal kicking anywhere, then again he has barely played any reserve grade (not even 10 games) so maybe he kicked goals in Flegg

When I hear experience I hear older injured slower less athletic player wanting to cash in at our expense.

We should continue targeting guys like Blore and Luciano.
