This salary-cap hit we took for offering Farah a job.....has there ever been a bigger punishment in our game for something that did not even eventuate?
And one might ask why it never eventuated considering we took a kick to the cods financially because of it.

It would not of happened with the current ceo and admin of nrl. Greenburg was hopeless

If the government charges you tax for a service you don't recieve, You get a full refund in your tax return
So why aren't we entitled to a full refund on our fine
It could also be argued that we did not receive any advantage what so ever

I see Foran is out for t he rest of the season with a Pec injury.
That should put paid to anyone on here that wants to sign him.
His body is broken, full stop.

I'm in two minds about Tamou. He provides leadership but he's not really an enforcer and his best days are behind him. I'm concerned we're taking on another veteran looking for a final payday, although I suspect he'd start in our current pack. Welch from the Storm would have been ideal, but that's obviously not to be.

If he comes I could only see it been a 2 year deal or a 3rd year club option... By that time we would have lost Reynolds, Packer and maybe Mbye and would be in the market for some big names. Anyway I would take him now just for a win in the media :grinning:

I don't see how Tamou would exactly help our campaign in attracting other players sorry @Jedi_Tiger and we also don't have any inkling on how he'd go with our pack. Yes he'd be great for a leadership role but it would be a stupid executive decision to sign a 31y/o on a 3 year deal. Also how does this help attract others?
It would be a typical tigers signing done in haste or desperation. Why not even aim for someone one or two years younger as speed, size, skill and youth seem to be the best assets for the current game.

We obviously wouldn't be able to lure JFH(from that Panthers lot) but I'd honestly prefer Leota or Hetherington over him.

In order to make our club more desirable, to quality players, I feel we need to be recruiting players that others want to play with.

I'd go 1 year with a 1 year option in the clubs favor, that's the smart option if they do go for him.

He has played state of origin, won a premiership and has played for a long time. Yes, i get how everyone is worried about deja vu aka Packer, Mats and Mcqueen. But i reckon he is critical for our young pack otherwise u have what the broncos do, all young with no leadership which is a recipe for disaster

McQueen also played origin and won a premiership

Tamou was the standard of front rowers for a while, and at the moment he isn’t far off.
He will offer great leadership for our pack. If we sign him, we just need to add some young firepower as well.

We already have too many players of his style! We need Papalii, JWH, Vaughan, A Paasi type enforcers!

Tamou would end as another disaster for us. I think it’s better for us and him if we looked elsewhere. Been there, done that.

when we won the comp we ha a skando hard head
We need that hard head, that leader in 2003 and 2004 we had Sattler
Tamau is a key signing

Substitute tamou for packer or Matulino couple of years ago. Will be the same.

Read that article again. It is the same damn article written about Tigers proposed recruitment. Ever article will start with “FORMER representative....”

McQueen had bad neck injuries, and wasn't a natural leader. Tamou is currently the captain of the side on the top of the table and (touch wood) is competing to a high level

If we're getting tamou for say 2 years fairly cheaply then its a good deal. Not all leadership is lead by example. If he can raise twal, mikaele, aloiai, mcintyre 10-20% by his off field leadership and hold his own ~ 100m a game thats fine.

I do agree we need a big impact prop as well, but the impact prop tree has no leaves at the moment.

I like the article a few pages ago about Grant, if we could hold onto him that would be massive.
I've never thought he would stay but Maguire playing him as a starter might just be rolling the dice for something. If he was 100% gone i reckon Liddle would be starting

Tamou will not improve our team and would be just another over hyped player looking for a long term pension(3-4 years).
Terrible signing if it happens

It looks like we are still going for "old" players.. who are almost at the end of their playing life.....do we ever learn:angry: if Tamou does come to the WT's I hope its for 1 yr...that may show that we are learning afterall :astonished:

Not sure why people keep comparing Packer to Tamou.

There are no similarities. We signed Packer when he was coming into his supposed prime years.

Tamou is a older bigger and yeah better, Huth/Woods type forward isn't he. I wouldn't be so excited on that personally 👍 Keen for mobility and speed to the line more so.
